San Gabriel HC Jude Oliva<\/p><\/div>\n

Welcome to Awards Season.<\/p>\n

In 2010 Oliva proved he could make the hard calls. Disciplining players and changing key parts of his staff mid-season to guide the Matadors to a 5-5 record and only four combined points away from an undefeated Almont League season.<\/p>\n

In 2011 a 1-4 start had bloggers questioning him and the young staff he put in place, but a funny thing happened to all the doubters; they disappeared.<\/p>\n

Going 5-0 and winning league has a tendency to shut people up. An eight game winning streak has a way of keeping them quiet. A 29-28 victory in the semifinals against a team that had beaten them 59-6 at home and a spot in the Mid-Valley Division finals makes everyone your friend.<\/p>\n

Guess who\u2019s a genius suddenly? We\u2019ll let time decide whether or not Coach O is a genius, but a 9-5 record with a CIF title appearance does make you the Mid Valley Sports, Mid Valley Division Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n
