But one coach that isn’t going anywhere is Rowland’s Craig Snyder. He’s staying put.

There have been rumors to the contrary but Snyder put those to rest.

“Yes, I’m coming back…unless they fire me,” Snyder quipped Friday. “Our staff is basically the same and we’re all getting ready to go.”

Snyder has been a part of Rowland athletics since 1979. He has coached the varsity baseball team (1988-’98) and is also currently the head coach of girls’ softball. He has been the football Coach since the 2006 season.

Snyder understands the reasons behind the number of area coaches that have stepped down.

“There are a lot of things that we have to deal with,” Snyder said. “It’s not just coaching the kids.”

But for Snyder the support from the administration has been tremendous.

“Our Principal played football for Rowland and graduated in 1989. He was also an all CIF wrestler. So the support he has given me as well as the rest of the administration has been great,” Snyder said. “I know at some schools they don’t get the support they would like but for me it’s been terrific. I love coaching and I love coaching the kids.”

The Raiders are coming off a tough year going 2-8 in 2011 and 0-6 in the Hacienda League. Rowland’s last playoff appearance was in 2009 when the Raiders went 8-3 overall and finished third in the San Antonio League. They fell in the first round of the playoffs to California 55-27.

With Snyder back at the helm in 2012 the Raiders will once again be battling two time Southeast CIF Champion West Covina and the rest of the brutal Hacienda.

Snyder also had an opinion on the upcoming biggest game of the year.

“I like the Giants. They have been my dark horse team since the playoffs began so I’m sticking with them. I think they have a good enough defense to hold down Brady,” Snyder added.

(Hacienda Heights) – There has been an unusually high amount of coaching changes so far this off season and even larger amount of rumors.
