Sydney Hua glides in for two!<\/p><\/div>\n

(Rosemead) –\u00a0Sydney Hua scored\u00a013 points including two bombs\u00a0from long distance and\u00a0ran the point\u00a0efficiently\u00a0to lead Rosemead to a 41-34 win over\u00a0West Valley\u00a0Thursday night in the first round of the CIF\u00a0Division 3AA Playoffs.<\/p>\n

Hua nailed a three in the first and third quarters and also score five points in the second quarter\u00a0as she continually gave West Valley fits\u00a0by pushing the ball up the floor.<\/p>\n

Rosemead came out on fire from the outside burying five three pointers in the first quarter to lead 15-4. Hua was joined by Melody Gauthier and Karina Brito who both hit two treys to spark Rosemead.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the Lady Panther defense put the clamps on West Valley holding the Lady Mustangs to just two field goals.<\/p>\n

West Valley managed just two more field goals in the second quarter and Rosemead took a 23-9 advantage at the half.<\/p>\n

The Lady Panthers stretched the lead to 15 in the third quarter led by Hua who scored five of Rosemead\u2019s seven points in the quarter. West Valley continued to struggle from the field offensively with just six points.<\/p>\n

Lauren Fischer led a West Valley rally in the fourth quarter scoring eight points to cut into Rosemead\u2019s lead. The Lady Mustangs scored 19 in the quarter, four more than they had totaled in the first three. But Rosemead did enough to finish it off with Hua hitting a couple of big buckets and Gauthier sinking three free throws.<\/p>\n

Gauthier also had 13 for Rosemead and Brito added nine. Sarah Regan scored six points including four key points in the fourth.<\/p>\n

Fischer and Sarai Ware led West Valley with ten points each.<\/p>\n
