Warren Sapp files for bankruptcy <\/p><\/div>\n

The NFL denied the New Orleans Saints appeals Monday in the bounty case meaning that Coach Sean Payton will be suspended through Super Bowl XLVII and GM Mickey Loomis\u00a0is suspended eight games. Assistant coach Joe Vitt will miss six games and DC Gregg Williams, who did not appeal, is on indefinite suspension.<\/p>\n

With Payton confirmed being out for a year, the Saints turn their attention to a new head coach. Bill Parcells is still a possibility and New Orleans remains in discussion with him.<\/p>\n

The coaches went to the appeals with an outside shot at best anyway but when Williams\u2019 tirade was released last week they had no chance.<\/p>\n

Warren Sapp, who won a Super Bowl ring with Tampa Bay in 2002, has filed for bankruptcy. Sapp owes more than $6.7 million to creditors and back child support. Sapp listed among his assets as 240 pairs of Jordan athletic shoes worth $6,500 and a lion skin rug worth $1.200.<\/p>\n

Peyton Manning has been working out with the wide receivers in Denver and Eric Decker says there is \u201cno question\u201d Manning\u2019s arm strength is good enough to start in the NFL and he hasn\u2019t seen anything in the workouts that indicate that Manning\u2019s arm strength has decreased.<\/p>\n

Former Chicago Bear quarterback Jim McMahon, who is suing the NFL over concussion related dementia and brain trauma, is being sued himself by federal authorities along with eight others over to recover $104 million in bank loans. McMahon was one of a number of directors involved in Broadway Bank, which has since failed. The bank ignored federal warnings about how risky\u00a0some of the bank loans were. The loans resulted in $104 million in losses due to gross negligence according to the lawsuit.<\/p>\n

The Oakland Raiders signed defensive end Dave Tollefson to a one year contract. Tollefson had five sacks last year in a reserve role with the New York Giants.<\/p>\n

Former Norte Dame quarterback Blair Kiel, who played in the NFL for Tampa Bay, Indianapolis and Green Bay, passed away Sunday at the age of 50.<\/p>\n

Bears running back Matt Forte, who was slapped with the franchise tag, is prepared to sit out the season rather than sign the franchise offer. Forte is also upset about Chicago\u2019s signing of Michael Bush to a one year deal.<\/p>\n

Despite a strong debut season by Tennessee\u2019s Matt Hasselbeck, many in the organization expect Jake Locker to be given a shot at the starting quarterback position in camp. He has received a vote of confidence from tight end Jared Cook.<\/p>\n

The Dallas Cowboys will open the 2012 regular season Wednesday night September 5 against the Giants on NBC in the Meadowlands. It came as a surprise because the league has held only one divisional game in eight seasons since the new NFL Kickoff game in prime time was created. However the six highest rated games in NBC\u2019s Sunday Night Football history all featured the Cowboys. Last year\u2019s Giants\u2019 win over Dallas to clinch the NFC East in Week 17 was tops on the list.<\/p>\n
