(Pomona) – Josh Avila needed just 76\u00a0pitches and allowed one run\u00a0(unearned), two hits, and four strikeouts for San Dimas, who beat\u00a0Pomona 7-1 Monday to stay in the thick of the Valle Vista race, which is separated by one game from first place to fourth.<\/p>\n
Ricky Ramirez went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs while Jake Payton hammered 2 of 3 as well for an RBI. Payton also sizzled on the base paths\u00a0where he was 3 for 3 on stolen bases. Peter Lambert went 2 for 4, including an RBI drag bunt that went unplayed to help score Payton .<\/p>\n
The Saints however ran into a speed bump executing with runners in scoring position and stranded one on third\u00a0for five consecutive innings.<\/p>\n
Pomona scored its lone run off of Avila in the fourth when Freddy Rosales capitalized on a home plate passed ball.<\/p>\n
