\nSouth Hills 10 Rancho Verde\u00a00<\/strong> –\u00a0Ty France goes 3 for 4 with\u00a04 RBIs and three doubles and\u00a0Danny Sheehan was 2 for 3 with two\u00a0walks and an RBI (reached base 4 of 5 PAs) to lead the Huskies.\u00a0Adrian De Horta threw a complete game 4 hit shutout. He threw 103 pitches for 61 strikes, inducing\u00a011 ground-outs. No\u00a0Rancho Verde runners got past second\u00a0base after first\u00a0inning leadoff double and wild-pitch. Matt Carle (South Hills, RF) turned apparent hit into a force-play at second.<\/p>\n

Temple City 6 Granite Hills 2 (Div.4)<\/strong>
\nBen Arrue blasted a grand slam in the second, knocked across another run the next inning, and finished with five\u00a0RBIs to vault Temple City into its first semifinal appearance since 2007. Calvin Copping pitched six\u00a0strong innings with the same number in strikeouts (6) while issuing just one run to earn the win before Kyle Starling closed the portal in the seventh.<\/p>\n

The Rams will be at\u00a0St.Bonaventure on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Monrovia 1 Jurupa Valley 0 (Div.4)<\/strong>
\nJunior lefty Joe Mata celebrated his 17th birthday in fitting style by dealing Monrovia into the semifinals on a complete game one hit shutout with nine\u00a0strikeouts. Neither team had scored until the seventh\u00a0inning, where the Wildcats walked off as Justin Jones buzzed a groundshot to third\u00a0that was mishandled and errantly thrown, allowing Nick Carino, who had led off the inning by reaching on a dropped pop-up and was sacrificed into position by Reed Miller.<\/p>\n

Monrovia will journey some 100 plus\u00a0miles east to battle the Palm Desert Aztecs on Tuesday\u00a0with a trip to UC Riverside on Saturday, 6\/2,at 7:30pm for the Division 4 crown on the line. The Aztecs won their quarterfinal game 4-3 in a 14 inning epic at Savanna, and are seeking a title after getting shutout by Bishop Amat in last year’s final. Monrovia meanwhile seeks its first championship appearance since 2007 (when it fell to Bishop Amat) and first title since the prior year, 2006, when they beat St. Bonaventure 3-1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
