(South El Monte)- Norwalk running back Billy Moore touched the ball four times for 157 yards and two touchdowns, to lead the Lancers over South El Monte 63-3 Friday night at \u201cThe Swamp\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Eagles had the ball first but on the second play of the game quarterback Mark Acosta lateraled the ball back to a receiver and it wasn’t caught, but pick up by linebacker Adrian Cortez and he took it in for the first score. The two point conversion failed, Norwalk was up 6-0.<\/p>\n
Following three and out for South, Cortez scored again on a 52 yard run. The two point conversion failed again the score remained 12-0. A couple big touchdown runs by Moore of 30 and 65 yards opened the game wide open and gave the Lancers a 29-0 lead.<\/p>\n
Norwalk running back Adrian Gonzalez had eight carries for 44 yards and two scores, back up quarterbacks Martin Del Castillo and Moises Acosta each ran in for a touchdown. Starting quarterback Dominque Diaz went two of two for 44 yards and a touchdown pass to Ryan Martinez covering 40 yards. Lancers kicker Manuel Corona went 4 for 5 for extra point attempts and most of his kickoffs in the endzone.<\/p>\n
The Lancers defense led by Cortez, Elijhaa Penny, and Anthony Hernandez shut down the South offense. The Eagles were held to 71 yards rushing and Acosta was 2 of 6 for only 26 yards. South’s lone score came from a 25 yard field goal from Cristian Lopez.<\/p>\n
“South has a lot of tough kids, and it was a hard hitting game, we know they had some kids missing but it was a good game,\u201d said Norwalk head coach Jesse Ceniceros. “I have high expectations for my team we did good tonight but we still got to polish up some things like penalties.”<\/p>\n
The Lancers Moore after the game gave credit to his line saying; “My line has worked hard and it paid off tonight. We want to win the Mayfair’s and Artesia’s and be CIF Champs.\u201d<\/p>\n
South El Monte’s next game doesn’t get any easier when they travel to San Dimas next week. Norwalk will stay on the road and visit Los Amigos.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
