(La Verne) -The\u00a0Bonita Air Assualt\u00a0conlcuded Saturday with Upland\u00a0knocking off Valencia to win the two-day\u00a0Tournament.\u00a0Monrovia, who played without starting quarterback Blake Heyworth\u00a0and reciever Mason Bryant on Friday, had both players back on Saturday\u00a0and\u00a0had a lead on Upland\u00a0earlier in the day before falling late in the contest.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Friday gave us a chance to\u00a0see our backup quarterback Deshawn Potts,” said Monrovia Coach Ryan Maddox Friday night. “But when you’re without your starting quarterback in a passing competition, it’s kind of tough.”<\/p>\n

Heyworth was at a football camp at Stanford and\u00a0Bryant was\u00a0nursing an injury but both were back at it Saturday making the\u00a0Wildcats\u00a0a dangerous team. Bryant\u00a0recently received an offer from\u00a0Ohio.<\/p>\n

“He’s considering several offers,” said his father Kennedy Bryant. “Harvard\u00a0is still there\u00a0and there are others he’s\u00a0still considering.”<\/p>\n

Arroyo behind Nathan Coto played well\u00a0and was in almost every game.\u00a0They lost on Saturday to Rancho Cucamonga by 10 points and Kaiser by two.<\/p>\n

South El Monte quarterback Levi Wells transferred in from La Habra<\/p><\/div>\n

“Our defense played well all tournament\u00a0except the first game against\u00a0Ayala. We had four losses by a combined\u00a014 points. We got to learn how to finish,” said Arroyo Coach\u00a0Jim Singiser.<\/p>\n

South El Monte lost both games\u00a0on Saturday.\u00a0The Eagles were\u00a0shut out by Villa Park and lost to JW North\u00a0by four.\u00a0South El Monte had two quarterbacks taking snaps- last year’s starter Fernando Ramirez and La Habra transfer\u00a0Levi Wells.<\/p>\n

“He (Wells) will compete for the starting job even though Fernando\u00a0was all league last year,” said South El Monte Coach\u00a0Ibis Aguilar. “I want our players to have to compete at every position.\u00a0We can’t be satisfied\u00a0with 7-4 (last year’s record), we have to\u00a0get better.”<\/p>\n
