{"id":2470,"date":"2009-09-05T11:31:46","date_gmt":"2009-09-05T18:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=2470"},"modified":"2009-09-05T12:11:54","modified_gmt":"2009-09-05T19:11:54","slug":"panthers-tame-mustangs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=2470","title":{"rendered":"Panthers Tame Mustangs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_2479\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2479\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2479\" title=\"Brandon Taylor\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Zero-Week-2009-038.JPG\" alt=\"Brandon Taylor looks for room to roam\" width=\"400\" height=\"258\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2479\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brandon Taylor looks for room to roam<\/p><\/div>\n<p>By Duane Barker<\/p>\n<p>(Pomona) The Diamond Ranch Panthers made school history Friday night with a\u00a0 resounding 35-20 win over the Muir Mustangs with the chants \u201cD\u2019 What\u2026D\u2019Ranch\u201d resounding through the stadium at Ganesha High School.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->For a team that was the runner up in the Southeast Division in 2008 history came as\u00a0the\u00a0Panthers won their season opener for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Diamond Ranch got on the board first needing only four plays to cover 85 yards highlighted by a 10 yard out from Gus Viramontes that Brandon Taylor turned into a 50 yard score.\u00a0 Taylor had a big night grabbing six passes for 131 yards and a score.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWe had to hold them back and hold them back and couldn\u2019t let them go in practice due to the smoke.\u00a0 We finally released them tonight and jumped out early and then got a little sloppy\u201d commented Head Coach Roddy Latyon after the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Panthers got two more scores in the first half on a 23 yard run by Amari Statten and a 52 yard score when Viramontes hooked up with Elijah Henley.\u00a0 Viramontes went on to finish the evening hitting on 11 of 18 for 279 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Diamond Ranch did their part as well in the first half holding the high powered Mustang offense scoreless.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Muir turned things around in the second half and got the ball moving.
