Bergstrom stadium.

The Knights unleashed Aholoka who essentally carried the the team past the Raiders.
“Peter Aholoka is a beast,” said Arroyo coach Jim Singiser. “We are a spread team and we will throw the ball. Nathan threw the ball pretty well tonight but we can run the ball.”

Spreading the ball is what the Knights did. Nathan Coto threw for 190 yards and connected with wide out Lucas Rodriguez for a 32-yard touchdown pass. Coto also beat the Raider defense with his feet, rushing for 85 including a seven yard touchdown run.

Between both Aholoka and Coto, the tandem combined for a total of 438 yards of total offense for the Knights.

It was a 21-7 ball game at the half but the score could have been closer if Raider quarterback George Campos didn’t throw his only pick in the second quarter.
That was their only mistake in the game.

Rowland made strides and drove down the field in the first half. Campos was the first to put points up for the Raiders in the second quarter when he punched it in from one yard out.
Campos finished the night 17-26 for a 187 yards with one touchdown and an interception.

“The turnover was a 14-point swing,” said Raider head coach Craig Snyder. “We we’re going in to score and throw an interception and they turn around and score seven for them.”

Running backs Avery Duffus and Andy Andrade carried the ball for Raiders, rushing for a combine total 139 yards on 27 carries plus one score. The only score was from Andrade when he walked in from five yards out.

After intermission, the Raider offense used a mixture of pass and run plays to score on their first possession. Putting them within one score of the Knights.
But then the Knights got the ball. Both Coto and Aholoka beat up the Raider defense with most of the damage coming on the ground. After a Aholoka TD run and a late deep touchdown pass by Coto, the Knights posted 41 points on the scoreboard making a combat for the Raiders unreachable.
“Give their kids credit,” said Snyder. “They played their butts off, they played well and we didn’t play as well as I think we can play but we got to get better.”

Despite the loss, the Raiders end non league play with a 3-1 recorded. Next Friday they travel to Bonita to open league with Bonita.

For Arroyo, they even their record at 2-2 going into next week game against La Cañada at home.

By Alex Gonzalez (El Monte) – Arroyo running back Peter Aholoka rushed for 143 yards on 17 carries while reaching the end zone four times as Arroyo cruised by Rowland 41-21 Friday night at B.L.
