Duarte is looking to get off to a good start in the Montview League opener. They should be fine against Ganesha. The Giants haven’t won a game and are allowing over 33 points per game.\u00a0 Falcons roll.<\/p>\n

This is one Monrovia let get away last year. The Wildcats are coming off a big win over San Dimas that could have been much bigger if not for the yellow laundry. South Hills has won two of three to start the Albert Rodriguez era. Monrovia has too much.<\/p>\n

A disappointing loss last week for Los Altos after three straight victories. Diamond Bar’s window might have been last year. The Brahmas have lost three of their first four but did stay with Norwalk for awhile. The Conquerors win the Hacienda League opener.<\/p>\n

You can’t make that much of the two West Covina losses. Loyola and Chino Hills beat a lot of people. The Panthers have been winning but are staying under the radar by not winning big. Some of the Mid-Valley Staff likes D-Ranch in this one. I don’t.<\/p>\n

G-Stone has been the surprise of 2012. The Gladiators have been scoring points while knocking off respectable teams like El Monte and Northview. La Puente stumbled against Covina but have responded by winning its last two. Gladstone’s defense has been torched at times and LP has some weapons. The Warriors get it done.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs are still looking for their first win but when the non league schedule features monsters named Upland, Alemany and Rancho Cucamonga that might be expected. CV beat La Canada and Santa Paula but was drilled by San Marino. It won’t be easy but Muir prevails in fourth.<\/p>\n

La Mirada lost running back Johnny Hills for the year and Kevin Dillman has been banged up. But when you have other guys named Adam Carrasco, Dallas Shipp and Tyler Luatua it doesn’t hurt as much. Norwalk is back to being Norwalk after a rough 2011. The Lancers have dispatched their first four opponents while chewing up huge chunks of yardage on the ground. They’ll keep it close and try to keep the Matadores off the field. It won’t be enough.<\/p>\n

Northview (2-2) at Covina (2-2) \u2013 Covina District Field <\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Covina 40-7 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Covina has been raising some eyebrows this year. Wins over La Puente and Walnut have proved the Colts shouldn’t be taken lightly. Northview has been up and down \u2013 lose to a Rowland, beat a South El Monte. A month ago I would have taken Northview. Now I’m leaning Emilio Zertuche and the Colts.<\/p>\n

The Moors have rebounded to win two after a bad start although wins over Temple City and LA Wilson aren’t reason to make plans for a parade. South Pas stumbled against Hoover but has been impressive in wins over San Gabriel and Glendale. The Tigers should have enough to beat an Alhambra team still trying to find its way. South Pas, close.<\/p>\n

Rosemead got off the schnide last week to give Marc Paramo his first win as a head coach. The Panthers showed some offense in the victory over Warren and we already know they can play some defense. San Gabriel has been explosive offensively but the defense has been as shaky as the economy. The game is a toss up. The Mats should score more.<\/p>\n
