San Gabriel wasn\u2019t dominant in the win over South Pas but they did what they had to do. Burbank rolled over Simi Valley and lost by only three to Chaminade. La Mirada survived St. Paul in week one but was taken out behind the woodshed last week by La Habra. South Hills beat a solid Ayala team while La Habra was beating up La Mirada. South Hills isn\u2019t La Mirada. Huskies in a close call.<\/p>\n<p>South Hills 24 La Habra 21\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday September 18 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alhambra (0-1) at Temple City (0-1)<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: Alhambra 14-10<\/p>\n<p>All -Time: Temple City 12-5<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 Alhambra is chomping at the bit to hit the field after last week\u2019s game with La Canada was canceled because the Spartans haven\u2019t had enough practice time due to the fires. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 Temple City is still smarting from that last second loss to Arroyo but on the bright side the Rams had one of the top teams in the Mid Valley Division on the ropes until that fateful pass. The Moors are another tough test but the Rams will pass this one.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Temple City 20 Alhambra 17<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bell Gardens (1-0) at El Rancho (2-0)<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: El Rancho 31-30 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 El Rancho suddenly looks like the team to beat in the Del Rio. The Dons are playing with a renewed sense of purpose. And no they haven\u2019t beaten just patsies. They took care of West Covina in zero week.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 BG ran roughshod over defending Montview League champ Azusa. The Lancers always are good on the ground but El Rancho will jump ahead early and then hold on.<\/p>\n<p>El Rancho 24 Bell Gardens 17\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Amat (1-0) at West Covina (0-2)<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: Bishop Amat 42-6<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 West Co doesn\u2019t look as good as last year\u2019s team. Amat might be better. The Lions will hang with the Colts. It won\u2019t be a repeat of last year\u2019s rout. But Covina, with offensive weapons like Sebastian Duran and Matt Murray will produce enough points to get the job done.<\/p>\n<p>Covina 28 El Monte 17\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>La Puente (2-0) at Baldwin Park (2-0)<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: Baldwin Park 27-7<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 Battle of the unbeatens! BP followed up the zero week win over Nogales with an impressive victory over Montebello. After a disastrous 2008, LP is off on the right foot in \u201909. LP is playing inspired ball under Brandon Roher but right now I like the Braves. James Heggins crew goes to 3-0.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Baldwin Park 17 La Puente 13<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Arroyo (1-0) at Northview (0-1) Covina District Field<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: Northview 20-6<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 Arroyo escaped while the Vikings got crushed. With that said Jim Arellanes will no doubt light a fire under his team. Northview will show improvement but the Knights will come out victorious.<\/p>\n<p>Arroyo 31 Northview 13\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rosemead (1-0) at Monrovia (2-0)<\/p>\n<p>Last Year: 9\/19\/08: Rosemead 42-21, 12\/05\/08 \u2013 CIF Playoffs Semi Final: Rosemead 16-6<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 Rosemead deserves a lot of credit for rallying to beat Covina last week. Under pressure late, the Panthers kept their cool, mounted a drive and then pulled it out. It might be a little more difficult against Monrovia. The Cats pounded Duarte after taking down Arcadia in week one.
