San Marino drove down to the South El Monte four yard line.\u00a0From there Nick Gott took a handoff and headed for the right side. he stretched\u00a0out his arm\u00a0in an attempt\u00a0to\u00a0get the\u00a0ball over the plane of the goal line but instead he was smacked, the ball popped\u00a0loose and South El Monte&#8217;s Erick Zelaya\u00a0fell on it at the one yard.<\/p>\n<p>It was huge stop\u00a0for the Eagles\u00a0but instead of capitalizing, Mario Burciaga was sacked in the end zone after a bad snap\u00a0on the first play resulting in a San Marino safety. On the ensuing series, Andrew Cordova\u00a0ran 18 ayrds for a first down at the South 13. Two plays later, Matt Wofford scored on a seven yard run\u00a0and just like that it\u00a0was 23-21 San Marino.<\/p>\n<p>On the very next possession Zachary Bowles intercepted\u00a0Burciaga and returned it to the Eagle 19. It took five plays for the Titans\u00a0to get in the end zone\u00a0with Gott going in from a yard out to\u00a0atone for his earlier fumble.\u00a0In a matter of four minutes, the game went from potentially 28-14 South to\u00a031-21 San Marino.<\/p>\n<p>Then Wofford intercepted Burciaga one more time and the\u00a0Titans ran out the clock.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I just told them to continue to play hard and good things will happen,&#8221; said San Marino Coach Mike Hobbie about his team being down.\u00a0&#8220;That&#8217;s what we preach from day one.\u00a0Play hard and be smart.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>South and San Marino\u00a0exchanged scores in the\u00a0first quarter. Burciaga turned a quarterback keeper into a 67 yard run for a 6-0 Eagle lead.\u00a0San Marino came back\u00a0with a 93 yard drive highlighted by\u00a0a 29 yard pass play from Wofford to Lionel Escajeda to take a 7-6 lead.\u00a0Ryan Wood scored on a two yard run to cap the march.<\/p>\n<p>In the second\u00a0quarter, South El Monte took control. Javier Machuca\u00a0scored on an 11 yard pass from Burciaga.
