(Pasadena)- It was over pretty quick. Maranatha capitalized at every turn and at every turn Desert Christian turned \u00a0the ball over in the Minutemen’s 38-7 rout of the Knights on Thursday in a non-league contest.<\/p>\n

“We told our guys we’re starting a new season,” said Maranatha HC Pete Karavedas. “Our bye came at the right time, we restructured our offense, and its a new season.”<\/p>\n

After starting 0-5 along with losing Andrew Elffers for the remainder of the season, Karavedas’ team is now “2-0” thanks in large part to the legs of Omar Younger and sophomore quarterback Eli Snyder.<\/p>\n

Younger broke off scoring runs of 62 and 33-yards in the first half and finished with 163 yards on 16 carries. Snyder, a southpaw, threw two touchdown passes and ran for another. Both scoring tosses came in the second half. A 14-yard touchdown pass to Niko Dobbs in the third quarter, on a fourth down and two. The second was another 14-yard pass, this one to Troy French in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

“Eli (Snyder) is doing a great job for us,” said Karavedas. “He still has a lot to learn, like when to throw the ball away but he’s been doing really well.”<\/p>\n

Maranatha’s Jack Basalari kicked a 24-yard field goal to open the scoring in the first. The Minutemen, thanks to four Desert Christian turnovers, scored on five of their first six possessions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
