{"id":2842,"date":"2009-09-19T04:32:41","date_gmt":"2009-09-19T11:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=2842"},"modified":"2009-09-19T04:44:06","modified_gmt":"2009-09-19T11:44:06","slug":"moors-get-past-rams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=2842","title":{"rendered":"Moors Get Past Rams"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_2843\" style=\"width: 372px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2843\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2843\" title=\"Week 2 2009 035_filtered\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Week-2-2009-035_filtered.JPG\" alt=\"Cazarin and Peko lead the way for the Moors\" width=\"362\" height=\"232\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2843\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cazarin and Peko lead the way for the Moors<\/p><\/div>\n<p>(Temple City) The Alhambra Moors scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Darrian Cazarin to Joseph Becerra to take a 17-14 lead and steal the win in the home opener for the Temple City Rams Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<!--more-->\u201cThe boys were determined in the second half, they knew they had to come out here and out play them and they did.\u00a0 Not being able to play for a couple of weeks hurt us but we bounced back and played some defense\u201d commented Head Coach Gil Reudaflores after the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Cazarin to Becerra touchdown came with 8:44 left in the game after a Justin Smith fumble set the Moors up at the Ram 36.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Alhambra (1-1) also got the first points of the game on a 25-yard field goal by Alex Lopez.\u00a0 The Moors were assisted on the scoring drive by a questionable pass interference call on fourth and long.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0From punt formation, Cazarin faked the punt and launched a pass downfield in the direction of Mitchell Crockum.\u00a0 Paco Ojeda and Crockum both went up for the ball.\u00a0 Ojeda appeared to have made the interception but was flagged for pass interference.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The ball was\u00a0 given to Alhambra at the spot of the foul as the officiating crew deemed that Crockum had made the catch not Ojeda.\u00a0 The Ram defense stayed on the field and held the Moors to just a field goal.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Temple City (0-2) got on the board with 11:21 left in the first half on a two yard run by Max Ruckle.\u00a0 The score was set<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2844\" style=\"width: 324px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2844\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2844\" title=\"Week 2 2009 008_filtered\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Week-2-2009-008_filtered.JPG\" alt=\"Ruckle gets some tough yards against Alhambra\" width=\"314\" height=\"355\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2844\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ruckle gets some tough yards against Alhambra<\/p><\/div>\n<p>up by a punt return and late hit that\u00a0put the Rams in business at the Alhambra 33-yard line.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Rams did have one more opportunity to put points on the board late in the first half.\u00a0 A Cazarin fumble was recovered by Temple City at the Moor 40.\u00a0 Five plays later the Rams lined up for a 30-yard field goal.\u00a0 Andrew Tinsley\u2019s effort fell short and Temple City headed to the locker room with a four point advantage.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Early in the third quarter, the Rams went on a seven play 60-yard drive capped by a 37-yard bust up the gut from Ruckle for the score.\u00a0 The drive was aided by a 14-yard run by Andrew Gibson from punt formation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Alhambra drew within three when Cazarin hooked up with Vai Peko on a 48-yard bubble screen that Peko took the distance with :16 left in the third period.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Temple City had three more chances late in the game to tie or go ahead but were unable to put together sustained drives as the Alhambra defense stiffened.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0With 1:23 left in the contest, the Rams were set up with decent field position a their own 42-yard line.\u00a0 On the first play to start the drive, Peko stepped in front of a Smith pass to seal the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Up next for the Moors is a home field run in with neighboring L.A.
