{"id":28427,"date":"2012-10-19T22:02:21","date_gmt":"2012-10-20T05:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=28427"},"modified":"2017-06-10T10:16:33","modified_gmt":"2017-06-10T17:16:33","slug":"arcadia-21-pasadena-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=28427","title":{"rendered":"Arcadia Wins, Locks Up Pacific Third Spot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Gary Huff<\/p>\n<p>(Pasadena)- Life continues without Brandon Cox, and life is hard.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Still without its senior standout at quarterback the Bulldogs struggled offensively and fell to visiting Arcadia 21-7 on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Still Pasadena did jump out to an early lead when back up quarterback Eli Trejo, the team\u2019s third starting quarterback this season, struck paydirt after a 6-yard run for an early 7-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the quarter, the Bulldogs were unable to convert an interception, which set them up at the Apache 14, into points.<\/p>\n<p>Arcadia answered back in the second when Jake Medel, who accounted for all three Apache touchdowns, turned a short screen pass from Zach Yee at the line of scrimmage and burned his way down the east sideline for a 38-yard score.<\/p>\n<p>The game remained tied heading into fourth, thanks to each team\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n<p>In the fourth Medel broke loose for a pair of scoring runs to pilot an Arcadia surge and clinch a playoff birth.<\/p>\n<p>The go ahead score was set up with 50-yard pass from Zach Yee to Sheldon McKinley. The senior running back to the ball to the Bulldog five and Medel carried it in from there.<\/p>\n<p>Medel added a 9-yard run in the final minutes to close the scoring.<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Hopkins, Matt Mulvehill, Robbie Hillier, Joey Willm, Austin Ford, and Kevin Luong led a big night in whole for the Apache defense.<\/p>\n<p>Arcadia is now 4-1 in the Pacific, 4-4 overall.
