Northview’s Javon Taylor scored four touchdowns, rushing for three, on Thursday night. Nogales’ Freddy Navarro gives pursuit.<\/p><\/div>\n

(Covina)- It really became a case of getting dressed, the national anthem, and getting on the field for the Northview Vikings as they quickly took down a banged up Nogales Nobles team on Thursday night, 41-6 at Covina District Field.<\/p>\n

The two Valle Vista teams arrived going in different directions. The Nobles were patchworking their attack and starting a new quarterback, while the Vikings were riding a five-game winning streak, enjoying the exceptional play of Javon Taylor, and heading for a showdown against San Dimas in Week Ten.<\/p>\n

Taylor was a wrecking crew scoring on runs of eight and six yards in the first quarter as Northview built a 14-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Taking advantage of Nogales back up quarterback Matt Arellano, wide receiver by trade and the team’s third signal caller this season, the Vikings forced several turnovers and kept the Nobles back on their heels all night.<\/p>\n

Fullback Joe Sanchez plowed in from a yard out to open the second quarter and less than a minute later Taylor took a swing pass from Victor Garcia 30-yards to paydirt to make it 27-0.<\/p>\n

With 3:14 to play before the break Kristian Lopez padded the lead with another one yard touchdown run and there was no looking back.<\/p>\n

When Taylor scored his fourth touchdown on a 14-yard run to open the third quarter the score was 41-0 and the clock “officially” began to run.<\/p>\n

“We came out and did what we had to do, and now we are playing for a league title next week,” said third year Northview HC Marcel Perez whose team improved to 7-2 on the season and 5-0 in the Valle Vista. They’re winning streak now stands at six straight.<\/p>\n

Taylor finished with 114 yards on 13 carries and gave all the credit to his linemen.<\/p>\n

“I get a lot of credit, but those guys do all of the work,” he said. “They make it happen.”<\/p>\n

For Nogales, 1-4 in league, 1-8 overall, they scored on the game’s final play when Arellano threaded a pass between defenders to Terrance Manderville who made the catch, with his hands, in traffic.<\/p>\n
