Starling opened the drive with a 52-yard run and two plays later, he reached pay dirt from 14-yards out.<br \/>\nStarling carried the ball 15 times and scored three times in the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great bounce back win,&#8221; said TC head coach Mike McFarland. &#8220;We played really well in the first half. We did everything we wanted to do. Real good win for us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>La Canada struggled in the half offensively. The Spartans\u00a0fumbled twice\u00a0in the first quarter giving Temple City\u00a0a short field to score. On both fumbles, the Rams were able to turn them into points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have had almost 30 turnovers in four games this year,&#8221; said La Canada HC\u00a0James Sims.<\/p>\n<p>On those ensuing drives for the Rams, both Starling and Chris Reed scored on\u00a0six yard carries into the end zone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re a one trick pony, you know?&#8221; said McFarland &#8220;Thats our best chance to be successful. Get the ball going North and South and that&#8217;s why we do what we do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>La Canada did put up points up before the half. Andy Paynter out ran the defense for a 60-yard run with 4:52 left in the second. At intermission, TC led 41-6.<\/p>\n<p>In the second stanza, LC started its\u00a0second half scoring on their first possession. Quarterback Robbie Fueling connected with Mario Del Cueto on a 31-yard touchdown pass cutting into the Rams lead.<\/p>\n<p>But after a Anthony Valencia field goal the game was a out of reach for the Spartans to make a comeback.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Spartans did add two more touchdowns before the night was over. Owen picked up a fumble and returned it for a 88-yard score and Paynter scampered his way to the end zone on a 85-yard run.<\/p>\n<p>With the win, the Rams are looking\u00a0to make the playoffs after a 1-9 season a year ago, however\u00a0they have a tough test next week in Monrovia.<\/p>\n<p>With tThe loss adds La Canada fell to 1-8.
