But the Blogger, who lived just north of M-Town, most certainly did not!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Blogger hated Football! The whole Football season!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, please don\u2019t ask why. No one quite knows the reason.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It could be his team didn\u2019t beat St. Francis just right.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It could be, perhaps, his defense took San Marino too light.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

But I think that the most likely reason of all,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

May have been his internet connection was two sizes too small.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

Staring down from his cave with a sour, Blogger frown,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

at the warm lighted windows below in M-Town.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

For he knew every Wildcat down in M-Town beneath,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

was seeking to hang a third championship wreath.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they\u2019re buying their tickets!\u201d He snarled with a sneer.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTonight is the title game. It\u2019s practically here!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

Then he plowed on his keyboard, Blogger fingers nervously drumming,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI MUST find some way to stop this title from coming!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

For tomorrow Coach Maddox would have Paraclete singing the blues,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

M-Towners would wake early to click on Mid Valley Sports for news!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

They would read how the Wildcats, young and bold, would feast and feast.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

They would feast on the Clete\u2019s Tyler Carvalho, and the Antoyne Hutcherson rushing beast.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thought of\u2026The Blogger couldn\u2019t stand in the least!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

And THEN they\u2019d do something the Blogger liked least of all!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Every Wildcat down in M-Town, the tall and the small,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

would stand close together, and sing the alma mater for all.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

And the more the Blogger thought of seeing another Wildcat title ring,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

the more the Blogger thought, \u201cI must stop this whole thing!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy, since 1935 I\u2019ve prevented it nine times before now!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI must stop this title from coming! But how?\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

Then he got an idea! An awful idea!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Blogger got a wonderful, awful idea!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI know just what to do!\u201d The Blogger laughed in his throat. \u201cI\u2019ll write a few words and sink this green boat.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll speak ill of Mike Minter, call Ryan Maddox a lout,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

come down on Brett Walsh, and negative about GeVontray Ainsworth I\u2019ll spout.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then with a nasty smile and a maniacal grin\u2026<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTales of Mason Bryant being too small I\u2019ll spin.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then to the web his grubby fingers flew<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

to the Star, the Trib, and the Mid Valley too!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

He loaded some garbage about the defense not getting enough sacks.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

He slammed them all with vicious attacks, from one site to the next before making quick tracks.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Blogger was jealous, he hated them all.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

From Old Town in M-Town, to the Santa Anita Mall.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

His anger and his venom through his keyboard he thrust.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cStop them, stop them!\u201d He knew, he must.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wildcats cannot throw the ball, the Wildcats cannot run!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Like a bad sportswriter, he used every kind of cliched pun.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

On and on he blogged and ranted.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

He ripped Coach Garrison and talked about Darione Jones getting planted.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

When game time came from his cave he slid,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

and up in the rafters of the Monrovia Stadium he hid.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

He slithered and slunk, as he prayed for the Refs, with a smile most unpleasant,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

hoping they\u2019d deliver the Cats yellow clothed presents.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

The anthem was sang, the kick off had come,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

the runner got banged, the Blogger stayed mum.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

But the fans they cheered as the players went up and down.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Refs they jeered with every sad frown.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Blogger delighted when Blake Heyworth would slip,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

he howled with excitement when Chris Campbell\u2019s shoulder would dip.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Tackles! Backles! Smashes and trips!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Bruises! And hackles! And all kinds of fat lips!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

In the fourth quarter, with no score, there was a pick by Craft.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

They gave it to Ainsworth\u2026and SUDDENLY he was gone like a draft!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Through a hole opened no bigger than an inch,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

GeVontray burst through, making it look like a cinch.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Blogger\u2019s hopes unraveled and down went his head,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

when Ainsworth crossed paydirt, his dreams were dead.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

Eruption came from the Wildcats along with hysteria.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ainsworth was mobbed by Miravet, Cano, and Alejandro Vega.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Potts, Bryant, and George Frazier they danced.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The song girls tumbled and twirled in a strange, but happy prance.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Thorn, Haney, and David Gallegos embraced by lot.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The cheerleaders circled in a victory trot.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

But did the Blogger like this? He most certainly did not.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

His web frothing and bad mouthing had not turned the trick.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A new feeling formed inside and he felt kind of sick.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

He stared at the faithful of M-Town with a pain not so much the same\u2026<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

What he had prevented so many times before for a third time had came.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

And the Blogger, his feet freezing in the cold,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

stood puzzling and puzzling: \u201cHow will this story be told?\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

***<\/p>\n

\u201cIt came without anger! It came without fears!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt came without bitterness, envy, or tears!\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then the Blogger thought of something he hadn\u2019t before!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe Football,\u201d he thought. \u201cDoesn\u2019t live on the web.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe Football\u2026perhaps\u2026should just be enjoyed instead.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

And what happened then? Well\u2026in M-Town they say,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

the Blogger raced home and gave the Wildcats praise that day.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

When the city celebrated, through sun created shards of shade,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

it was the Blogger, the Blogger himself, who led the green parade!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Welcome football. Bring your cheer,<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

To the those who love it, far and near.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Championship Day is for us to grasp<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

So long as we have hands to grasp.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Football will always be<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Just as long as we have we.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Welcome football while we stand<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
