I hate it when people always think I’m lobbying for gear<\/p><\/div>\n

Kick it!<\/p>\n

Of course it is better to always talk football 24\/7…but with Survivor starting tonight I am willing talk Survivor 24\/7 if anyone is interested…<\/p>\n

Did you know there are 32 football teams in the Mid-Valley Division…and that 18 of those schools will be looking for a new starting center?<\/p>\n

In fact of the 160 starting offensive line positions available in the division (32 centers, 64 guards, 64 tackles)…Only 59 starters are returning, and even in that group there are several who started three games or fewer because of injuries or coaching decisions.<\/p>\n

The point?<\/p>\n

Try being a coach, with everyone asking you about who your next quarterback is going to be, who has to find a way to fit Mid-Valley Division size bodies into those five slots.<\/p>\n

The freshman speedster can stay 5-6 or 5-7 for four years and a program will get a lot of clicks out of him. But will the freshman offensive linemen who is 5-9 170 be any bigger two\/three years later?<\/p>\n

Head Coaches are cool, OC\u2019s are popular, DC\u2019s tough…but the coaching required to develop offensive linemen is so undervalued. You don\u2019t always get a Matt Norman (M-Town) to put at right tackle, instead you generally get a kid that\u2019s 5-10 235 with slower feet…If you\u2019re lucky.<\/p>\n

While everyone wants to know where Jude Oliva will land for next season…and where Matt \u201cThe Suave One\u201d Lopez will be…that offensive line coaching position is usually a walk-on coach (I\u2019ll take the correction)…Thus that coach is gold.<\/p>\n

If anyone wants to talk about The Walking Dead, I can do that to.<\/p>\n

Expect Mt. View to scrap its double-wing and go with more of a Pistol approach in 2013. Chris Cervantes and Josh Martinez are lead candidates at quarterback for right now. Jerry Rivas is the Vikings new offensive coordinator.<\/p>\n

People come to me all the time and say; \u201cJoe, you\u2019re a rambling guy, do you find it difficult to keep your personal bias out of rooting for a specific team?\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019m accused of this all the time…While I can be bought, flattery won\u2019t get you anywhere… but lunch and\/or gear always works for me. Truthfully, when we covered our old school 12 we always favored them. Now, since we expanded about five years ago, it\u2019s all a win-win for us. There\u2019s a great story in every victory, and a really great story in every loss.<\/p>\n

Going to publish the top ten returning quarterbacks in the Mid-Valley Division tomorrow…<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t have the history of La Puente football wired, but I\u2019m going to guess that Brandon Rohrer leaves as perhaps the Warriors all time winningest coach. Someone want to look that up and get back to me in time for 2016 season?<\/p>\n

This is not a prediction…just food for thought…Wilson, yes the Wildcats, keep an eye on Wilson…I think they might get some traction in the Valle Vista this fall.<\/p>\n

And since we\u2019re talking about eyes and keeping them fixed on something…then keep one of them on Arcadia cornerback Robbie Hillier II…He tackles, he defends, and he\u2019s only going to be a junior.<\/p>\n
