The following year he took his first head coaching job at Antelope Valley.

MacIntyre has moved on from his position with the Antelopes, where he went (9-12) in two seasons, but improved on a 2-8 season by going 7-4 last year with AV.

A homecoming of sorts for, MacIntyre, who lives in San Gabriel, he now doesn’t have to drive to Lancaster on a daily basis.

“I applied at a few spots. I had one meeting here at Workman, I liked it, I think they liked me, it seemed like a good fit,” said MacIntyre.

In mentioning coach Oliva, MacIntyre also has a connection to another popular SGV coach, Pete Karavedas.

“We played the first game against each other last year and that’s how I got to know him and we became friends,” said MacIntyre.

There is no doubt having a connection to these two respected coaches helped MacIntyre land the job coaching the Lobos.

“I am sure both were called as references. Both were very supportive in helping me get the job here at Workman.”

MacIntyre learned many things while coaching the Antelopes that he will be able to carry over to his new job at Workman.

I learned a lot of things on the run. Paper work, clearances, grades, making sure we run a program that creates not only better athletes, but better student athletes,” said MacIntyre. We want to build on the strengths of the past and that’s important here.”

The Lobos will look to improve on a 2-8 record from last season and MacIntyre has put in place the steps to do so.

“We want to be better at understanding the game, do really well in the weight room to work on our speed conditioning and our strength,” MacIntyre said. “We want to be really good at what we do fundamentally, that’s the first step.”

As far as goals for the former AV HC puts it in the perspective of being the best team they can be.

“We all want to do well. We all want to be the best team in the league. We all want to make the playoffs. That’s a given,” said MacIntyre. “But what I am focused on is being the best team and program that we can be.”

As far as goals go MacIntyre isn’t letting himself look too far into the future.

“My number one goal is week one. We play Notre Dame (High School) in Riverside and they beat us pretty bad last year, my first goal is finding a way to beat those guys,” MacIntyre said.

By Josh Ouellette Coming back to the San Gabriel Valley, following a couple of years of coaching out of it in Lancaster at Antelope Valley High School, is new Workman High School head coach Eric MacIntyre.

[12816

post-32414","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hsfootball
["GET
