(There are a lot of players breaking out in 2013…but lets start with these.)<\/p>\n

Mayfair sophomore wide receiver Robert Cottrell, 6-2 175, could be (could be we said) a big time game changer. He has the potential to tilt the field.<\/p>\n

At El Monte in 2011 it was Memo Silva, in 2012 it was Abel Barajas, in 2013 wide receiver Roy Barrajas (no relation to the graduated Barajas) might be the next best thing for the Lions.<\/p>\n

Stars are born in adversity and that\u2019s what what happened with Rowland Raider running back Jackie Zhang who stepped up after Avery Duffus went down.<\/p>\n

Life On The Ranch<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

How do you replace a Joe Sanchez at quarterback or Johnny Garcia at running back? You don\u2019t, but it sure helps to have Aaron Escareno carrying the rock. The former La Habra Highlander, who came to El Rancho two years ago, rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns in the Dons season opening victory, 49-19, over Marina.<\/p>\n

Ryan Araujo\u2019s game at quarterback didn\u2019t hurt either.<\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t been hit till you\u2019ve been hit by the Ranch, expect this 1-2 two punch to pick where the 2012 version left off.<\/p>\n

Fan-Vote: Top Performer Week Zero<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

By fan vote Arcadia\u2019s Joey Harmon returning to action after missing the 2012 season guided the Apaches to 38-6 victory over Alhambra on Friday night. Harmon went 16 of 23 for 196 yards and a touchdown (1 pick) in the first meeting between the two schools since 1981.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The expectation is for former Maranatha standout Andrew Elffers to be redshirted by APU this season. The Cougars open their 2013 campaign in Grand Rapids, this Saturday.<\/p>\n

APU One More Time: Former Gladstone quarterback Paul Flores is now a 300+ starting tackle for the Cougars.<\/p>\n

Former South Pasadena\/Fullerton quarterback Connor Bednarski is red shirting at Stony Brook this fall.<\/p>\n

Rocky Mountains College upset Southern Oregon 35-30 this past Saturday in NAIA action. The starting left tackle for Rocky, who played very well, was former Whittier Christian trenchman Matt Hearn.<\/p>\n

In uniform for Southern Oregon, but not seeing any action, was former Heralds linebacker Daniel Abernethy…<\/p>\n

In the same game for Southern Oregon former Crescenta Valley standout Clay Sierra caught a pair of passes for 11 yards while playing tight end.<\/p>\n
