It&#8217;s only loss was to South Hills and the Bulldogs racked up 28 points in overtime in that one. Expect Westco to pound the ball. D-Ranch&#8217;s only loss was by three to Ayala. The Panthers offense moved against Chino and El Rancho but has struggled at times. West Covina comes out on top.<\/p>\n<p><b>West Covina 28 Diamond Ranch 21\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Diamond Bar (3-1) at Bonita (3-1)\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: Diamond Bar 25-24\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Nice Hacienda League opener for both teams. It&#8217;s a chance to see just where they are at. Diamond Bar&#8217;s athleticism might give Bonita problems but Bonita is more physical. The last time the Brahmas faced a physical team Norwalk crushed them 48-10. Bonita has a little too much.<\/p>\n<p><b>Bonita 31 Diamond Bar 17\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Pacific League\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Burbank (3-0) at Arcadia (2-1)\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: Burbank 41-20 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>In past years Arcadia has been able to hang with or even beat Burbank. This isn&#8217;t one of those years. The Bulldogs have quarterback Ryan Meredith, running back James \u201cBoobie\u201d Williams and a solid defense. They buried Inglewood last week 50-12. The Apaches have some skill guys but not nearly enough to upset the Bank. Burbank rolls.<\/p>\n<p><b>Burbank 35 Arcadia 7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Valle Vista League\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>San Dimas (0-4) at Northview (4-0) at Covina District Field<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: San Dimas 24-0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>This could be the game of the week. San Dimas is in desperation mode after starting the season 0-4. Northview is trying to establish supremacy in the Valle Vista League right off the bat. While the Saints muti-set offense featuring Fausto Martinez and Joseph Mayorga could give Northview problems early, they don&#8217;t have a real home run hitter to finish the Vikings off. Northview has some offensive weapons of its own in running back Christeon Blackmon and QB Peter VanDerEb. It&#8217;s a struggle all the way through but Northview emerges with a big W. Just don&#8217;t bet the house.<\/p>\n<p><b>Northview 24 San Dimas 21\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Covina (2-2) at Pomona (4-0) <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: Covina 23-0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>The \u201cother\u201d Valle Vista league game and it&#8217;s a big one. If Pomona wins suddenly it&#8217;s whoa Red Devils! P-Town is 4-0 and has done it consistently. Sophomore running back Darreon Lockett is impressive. Covina isn&#8217;t the Colts of years gone by but a victory here would go a long way in giving them credibility. However they&#8217;ll need a little more than just Pernell Smalley. Pomona remains undefeated.<\/p>\n<p><b>Pomona 31 Covina 24\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Suburban League <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Bellflower (2-2) at La Mirada (0-4) <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: La Mirada 31-7\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>If there&#8217;s one team that needs a victory more than anybody it&#8217;s\u00a0 La Mirada. Sure the Matadores have a schedule that would make USC cringe but at some point you need a victory. Bellflower is no slouch. Jonathan Turner and Tyrus Douglas are a tough one-two punch in the backfield and Andrew Gose makes plays at receiver. The Bucs will stay close but in the end a desperate La Mirada team survives. Look for Adam Carrasco to have a big game for the Mats.<\/p>\n<p><b>La Mirada 27 Bellflower 14\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Non League <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>California (1-2) at Schurr (0-3) <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: California 27-7 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Schurr is another team that needs a win but its going to be a tall order against a formidable Del Rio League team. While the Spartans have succumbed to three quality opponents, Cal beat Montebello but was beat up by Fullerton and the men of Troy. This one could come down to a kick. Cal comes through.<\/p>\n<p><b>California 17 Schurr 14\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>South Hills (2-1) at Monrovia (3-0)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: South Hills 30-27<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Good non league matchup between two spowerful area teams. Can South Hills contain Kurt Scoby? Can Monrovia subdue Adam Goss? The Huskies offense revolves around Goss and if the Cats do shut him down it could be trouble for South Hills. There&#8217;s really no way to contain Scoby. San Dimas did for three quarters before Scoby killed the Saints in the fourth. Scoby and a big front line will be enough for M-Town.<\/p>\n<p><b>Monrovia 24 South Hills 17 <\/b> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <b>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Pioneer (3-1) at Montebello (1-3) <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: Montebello 20-14\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>This is going to be a shootout. It could be last possession wins. Both teams are susceptible on defense but also have the offense to light up the scoreboard. Montebello&#8217;s Isaac Mendibles and Pioneer&#8217;s Jonathan Jimenez have been terrific. It will come down to who can rise on defense. The Oilers should stand up. We&#8217;ll see.<\/p>\n<p><b>Montebello 35 Pioneer 31\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Rosemead (2-1) at San Gabriel (1-3) <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Last Year: Rosemead 16-6 <\/b><\/p>\n<p>This crosstown rivalry has lost some of its luster with San Gabriel&#8217;s early struggles. Rosemead has bounced back with two wins after an opening night loss to Irvine. Quarterback Steven Nava is back and looked good last week but for the Panthers its nice to know they have a capable back up in Isaia Ah-hing. SG got a win last week but Rosemead has way too much for the Mats to handle.
