When asked about the line play of the Knights Singiser added “We thought that was were we had an advantage. We got great play from both sides of our line tonight.”

It didn’t take very long for Arroyo to put points on the board needing only five plays to go 63-yards to open the scoring barrage and take a 7-0 lead with 9:52 left in the opening frame.

*** Back to back touchown strikes of 10 and two yards from Nathan Coto to Nico Lozano pushed the score to 21-0 before the seats were even warm at B.L. Bergstrom Stadium.

Randy Amezcua looks for room to run.

*** Looking to take a four score advantage with ball marked inside the Eagle 10, a Coto pass careened off a lineman’s helmet and into the air. Joshua Villalobos snatched the ball out of the air and returned in out the the Gabrielino 30.

*** The closest the Eagles came to scoring in first half was 34-yard field goal attempt by Oscar Plama that sailed wide right. The drive that ended in the attempt was set up by the Villalobos interception.

*** Arroyo extended it’s lead to 27-0 with 2:00 left in the first half going 80-yards in 10 plays with the drive culminating in a Gabriel Gomez two yard run.

*** Down four scores the Eagles needed a spark to try and get back in the game. Facing a fourth and long deep in their own side of the field, Gabrielino attempted a fake punt. Carlos Monjaras was stopped well short of the first down marker the Ealges were forced to give the ball up at their own 23.

*** The Knights took full advantage of the gift of field position and rammed home another score on only three plays. Randy Amezcua got the call this time from 13-yards away to make the score 34-0 with 5:25 left in the third period.

*** Amezcua finished the scoring barrage on a five yard run as time was winding down in the third quarter. Amezcua finished the night with 116-yards on 14 carries and the two scores.

*** Coto accounted for three of the Arroyo scores, two by air and one on the ground. He also completed 17 of 28 passes for 226-yard and had two balls picked off.

*** Gomez also had a solid night for the Knights gaining 75-yards on 12 carries and the lone score.

*** Gabrielino finally got on the scoreboard with 8:22 remaining in the game. Elijah Peters scrambled for what seemed like four minutes and finally found Calvin Chen for a 29-yard score. It was a long night for Peters who only completed 11 of 30 passes for 140-yards and the one touchdown.

*** The Arroyo defense held the Eagles to a total of 195-yard of offense.

*** The Knights will be at home again next week hosting the El Monte Lions while the Eagles will return home to face the Mt.
