On the next play\u00a0Steven Nava&#8217;s pass\u00a0bounced off the receiver&#8217;s hands\u00a0and fell to the turf to touch off a celebration on the Arroyo sideline. The Knights then ran out the clock.<\/p>\n<p>With the victory Arroyo went 5-0 in league\u00a0to claim the MVL crown and 9-1 overall. Rosemead took second at\u00a04-1 and finished 8-2 on the year.<\/p>\n<p>***Arroyo quarterback Nathan Coto completed 17 of 27 for 261 yards and\u00a0two touchdowns. He also threw an interception.<\/p>\n<p>***Arroyo struck first\u00a0on a 44-yard TD strike from Coto to\u00a0Nico Lozano in the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>***Michael Sahagun\u00a0hauled in a five-yard pass from Nava in the second quarte to even things up at seven.\u00a0Coto hit\u00a0Jacob Robledo on\u00a0an 58- yard touchdown pass\u00a0in the corner of the endzone\u00a0for a 14-7 lead with 4:08 left in the second quarter.<\/p>\n<p>***The third quarter was scoreless except for a\u00a038-yard Steven Cansino field goal\u00a0for Rosemead to cut the lead to 14-10.<\/p>\n<p>***Randy Amezcua carried the ball\u00a016 times for\u00a0127 yards for Arroyo.<\/p>\n<p>***Lozano finished with four catches for\u00a0120 yards and a touchdown to lead the Arroyo\u00a0receiving corp.<\/p>\n<p>***Cansino\u00a0 also kicked a 34-yarder for the Panthers\u00a0in the fourth quarter to slice the lead to one.\u00a0Hernandez&#8217; field goal then made it 17-13. Arroyo elected to kick\u00a0the field goal instead of going for\u00a0it on fourth down from the two yard line. &#8220;I knew the Rosemead kid had a leg and I didn&#8217;t want to risk him\u00a0kicking a 40-yarder or something to win it in case we didn&#8217;t make it,&#8221; said Arroyo Coach Jim Singiser.<\/p>\n<p>***Both teams turned the ball over two times &#8211; each with an\u00a0interception and a fumble.<\/p>\n<p>***Nava completed 24 passes for\u00a0173 yards, one touchdown and an interception.\u00a0Alec Zavala was the workhorse on the ground for the Panthers with\u00a029 carries for 154 yards.<\/p>\n<p>***Both teams had won eight straight coming in after losing their openers.
