(Ganesha HS) – Baldwin Park (8-1, 4-0) kept its Valle Vista mark perfect at 4-0 and clinched at least a share of the league title by eliminating Ganesha (1-7, 1-3) from the playoff picture with a 49-14 victory Thursday.<\/span><\/div>\n

Manny Salcedo (8-13, 177 yds, 3 td’s; 8 runs for 43 yds, 1 td) effectively fueled the Braves’ first half production as he ground in an easy 1-yard score before going airborne for 3 more with end zone strikes of 26, 43, and 35 to Christian Lazaro, Mario Rodriguez, and Jesse Moran.\u00a0
Rodriguez led all receivers totaling 96-yards on 4 catches while Moran (2 rec, 39 yds) led the 225 yard BP rushing charge by adding 103 of it on 8 carries plus another touchdown.
Trailing 28-0 after Salcedo hooked Rodriguez up for a score, the Giants got on the board as Terrian’tate Francis returned the booming Jaime Toscano kickoff (coming from the 25 because of a penalty) 85 yards to the house.\u00a0
<\/span>Salcedo<\/span><\/span> responded for BP with a touchdown pass to Moran off a fake punt that made it 35-7. <\/span><\/div>\n
Ganesha didn’t go quietly before the half as they tried to stay in contention on quarterback Horatio Ortiz’s (5-18, 67 yds, 1 td, 1 int) short scoring toss 13 to Daniel Arevalo with 6 seconds left, closing the Braves’ gap to 35-14. Anthony Medellin (4-54 rec, 6-23 rush) cleaned up the other 4 Ortiz passes for 54 yards.
Baldwin Park laid the TKO punches in the second half as Moran and Wardell Crutchfield III (9 rushes for 34-yds, 1 td) scored from 8 and 2-yards out.
