(El Monte) – Whittier Christian, Northview, and San Gabriel joined Arroyo\u00a0for one last throw Thursday before the dead period begins for the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

“We’re out of here for the next 21 days after Saturday. I already have my vacation planned,” said Arroyo HC Jim Singiser.<\/p>\n

Northview and head coach Marcel Perez are\u00a0dropping\u00a0into the dead period as well until early August.<\/p>\n

Notes: Northview’s starting quarterback\u00a0Steven Comstock\u00a0is a freshman. He’s a kid that could be leading the Vikings for the next four years. He already has the size coaches look for in a QB.<\/p>\n

“He’s been looking really good -making all the right plays,” Perez said.<\/p>\n

Whittier Christian\u00a0quarterback Joe Hernandez transferred in from St. Francis, and although Herald\u00a0HC Sergio Gradilla wishes he could start right now he has to sit out the\u00a0CIF mandated 30 days.<\/p>\n

“He’s our guy but he won’t be able to start\u00a0probably until October.\u00a0He’ll miss all of the the non-league games,” Gradilla said. “Cooper Hughes will start until Joe\u00a0is ready.”<\/p>\n

Former Maranatha DC Henry Rodriguez is the new DC at Whittier Christian.<\/p>\n

It’s going to be a long process for\u00a0San Gabriel. The Matadors are young\u00a0and inexperienced and will\u00a0suffer some growing pains\u00a0before they’re ready to compete.<\/p>\n

Noah Evans should be Hernandez’ favorite target<\/p><\/div>\n

“We haven’t had a JV team\u00a0for the last two years and it shows.\u00a0It’s going to be a long process,” said first year San Gabriel Coach Joe Ledesma.\u00a0“We’re young.\u00a0We have mostly \u00a0freshman and sophomores.”<\/p>\n

Arroyo quarterback Chaz Miller just keeps improving.\u00a0How can you not when you throw it as much as Arroyo does? The Knights have key\u00a0skill\u00a0players too that will contribute this year like Gabriel Gomez, Randy Amezcua and\u00a0David Cotero.<\/p>\n
