The conspiracy side of me sees it as another attack on football. I believe (sort of) that there are forces coming together that will try to ban high school football altogether by 2030. Maybe I’ll get into it the next time we have a full moon fall on a Friday the thirteenth.
2.) During the course of a season the actual contact in team practices seem like they would lessen as bumps and bruises mount up. So it has little or no effect and the Governor is just doing what all politicians do in practicing CYA. Then the next time someone is hurt seriously he can claim he tried to curb this “epidemic” of head injuries in football.
3.) I see it as a disaster because, once again, somebody up in Sacramento feels they know more about football then the actual coaches do in terms of regulating and developing their players. I think you need to have as much contact as possible to teach the fundamentals that in the end prevent injury. At least in the past there were full contact practices, half speed, etc. etc… Hard to regulate.

Bottom line is what the coaches think. They know better than Gov. Brown, they know better than the sportswriter, and they know better than blogger on the boards. It would be nice to hear their thoughts on this.

“Joe who in the Central would be so dominant that teams like West Co, Monrovia, Los Altos, Muir, South Hills, Ayala, and Bonita would not have a chance against?”—MVS commenter “Dan” on my statement yesterday about the Central being less competitive than the Mid-Valley and Northwest.

“Who is in central division that suppose to be so good?that teams in the southeast can’t handle.”—MVS commenter “really” on the same subject.

Of course anything is possible, but in regards to West Covina, Monrovia, Los Altos, South Hills, Charter Oak, Kaiser, and Ayala they will be the teams to beat. No one else really has a shot.

First you eliminate the other five teams in the Rio Hondo. San Marino will be a playoff team, but do they have a real shot at being a Final Four team. I have nothing against Bonita and Diamond Bar, but they are not at the level of the other schools. Eliminate Walnut, and to be kind you can say the bottom three of the Sunkist have no shot. You could make an argument for the bottom four after Kaiser and Summit as not being threats. Chaffey, Don Lugo, Montclair, Ontario…are they going to crash the party. I just don’t see it. Claremont? I think prospects for middle to lower level schools in the Southeast look worse.

My argument is the Mid-Valley is deeper in terms of who might have a shot at getting to the semifinals…but it doesn’t mean anything. That’s why they play the games.

Regards:

In regards to Purdue: Go Boilermakers!

In regards to Jim Healy: My kingdom for Jim Healy.

In regards to our latest poll: It seems more would prefer a sharp needle to the eye to Chris Berman in any form.

In regards to NBA in 2014-2015: If the ancient San Antonio Spurs win another title what sort of indictment would it be on the condition of the league?

In regards to Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen: Prayers.

The Dude abides…

570

Psalms 44:3

Contact Joe at joe@midvalleysports.com
“Joe T.’s Scoreboard” is found at www.midvalleynews.com every Wednesday & in the hard copy of the Mid Valley News, published every Wednesday
Follow Joe on Twitter @joet13b
Listen to “The Joe Show” every Wednesday (6 & 6:30 P.M.) at www.midvalleyradio.net
“The Mid Valley Sports Show” is LIVE every Tuesday (7:PM) at www.midvalleysports.com (Click on “UStream” button)

[6

post-40184","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-fanview
["GET
