Apparently, so did you guys.

As stated two weeks, the crowd at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Tx. left something to be desired when it came to showing their passion for futbol. Of course, it may have been the Wednesday game time or the weather it doesn’t matter now after spending Saturday night at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.

Different atmosphere, different feeling at the home of the Dynamo as there was enough electricity to make it feel like an international game to watch. The visitors from Birmingham notched a goal in the first half and shut down the hosts. Good two wins for Aston Villa to start the season as they made their Texas Tour a winning one.

Can’t say that both the FC Dallas and Houston teams have anything on the Los Angeles Galaxy when it comes to stadium experiences. The electricity and the way the fans passions show, that maybe, just maybe soccer might make it this time around in the United States.

After three days in beautiful Dallas, it was on to Houston for two great days of visiting family and watching the soccer game at one of the newer soccer venues.

Prior to heading to the soccer game Saturday night, my wife and I traveled to College Station to spend some time with her family. No surprise she is a big Texas A&M fan as she graduated from the campus. First time I had spent on the campus and must say it is a regular college campus. Of course, Kyle Field was closed due to renovations being done to add seating, but it didn’t stop us from walking around the outside of the stadium. The best part of the tour was seeing the memorial to all the Reveille’s that have graced the campus since her official naming of being the Aggies Mascot.

For those not familiar with the tradition of Reveille heard are a couple. Every Reveille gets a military funeral after passing away. If you have a class with Reveille in it (the corpsman that is responsible for her well being takes her to every class) and she barks, class is dismissed for the day. Finally, all Reveille’s are buried in the North end zone facing the scoreboard so they can watch the Aggies out score their opponents. Fun facts you learn when walking the campus with the better half.

Heading back to Dallas on the final night, spent my time at the Global Life Park at Arlington to watch the dreadful Texas Rangers. It had been awhile since visiting this stadium, but definitely one of the nicest in the MLB. They do neat promotions at the stadium in between innings such as singing “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and having College Night. The night I watched the game, it happened to be Texas A&M night. They played the fight song and sadly didn’t know it. You would think being married to an Aggie it would be required to memorize it.

I’m out for this week, but one public service. If you are ever in El Paso, run don’t walk out of the city as fast as possible. Twenty-minutes on the tarmac is much too long in El Paso.

Gig ‘Em!
