Robert Sanchez: Arroyo, Sr. DT, NG, 6-1, 285 <\/strong><\/p>\n

2013 Stats: 52 tackles, 50 assisted, 102 total, 9 sacks<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Sanchez is\u00a0not only the best lineman on the team, he might be the best lineman in the valley,”\u00a0said Arroyo HC Jim Singiser late Friday afternoon at practice.\u00a0“I mean he’s a beast. Look at the size of that kid.\u00a0Look at\u00a0the arms on that kid.\u00a0He’ll be playing college football somewhere.”<\/p>\n

When a\u00a0coach has somebody\u00a0as dominant as Sanchez is in high school,\u00a0they’re tempted to play him\u00a0on both sides of the ball.\u00a0Not so with Sanchez. “He’ll only be playing on the D-line – a down nose,” Singiser said.<\/p>\n

Sanchez was a nightmare for quarterbacks\u00a0last year with nine sacks and\u00a0an untold amount of forced passes. Sanchez’ size helps him to plug\u00a0up holes in the middle making it difficult for\u00a0ball carriers to find room between the tackles and\u00a0also gives him the strength to manhandle offensve linemen.\u00a0Playing only one way will give him that added stamina needed in fourth quarters.\u00a0Once, maybe too nice on the field, he’s now getting that\u00a0football mentality.<\/p>\n

“Robert’s\u00a0a real nice kid – just a great attitude but he’s starting to get a mean streak in him on the field which is good,” said Singiser. “He used\u00a0be\u00a0too nice on the field but now he’s is starting to get mad.\u00a0I starting seeing it last year. It’s what I like to see.\u00a0He also works hard in the weight room and\u00a0is working hard to get better.”<\/p>\n

As I was\u00a0talking\u00a0to Singiser Sanchez,\u00a0brushed aside a blocker and\u00a0finished off a\u00a0running back,\u00a0flinging him to the turf. Unfortunately for opposing running backs, this could be a\u00a0common occurrence for\u00a0the Knights in 2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
