In an age where everyone is hot, angry, and hacked about something…how about new Baldwin Park starting quarterback Anthony Franco sporting a 4.2 GPA?<\/p>\n

If we could get the info, we would love to post an All-MVS Academic team after this season. (By position of course.)<\/p>\n

In regard to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge…Can\u2019t do it. I\u2019m not afraid of ice, not afraid of water, not afraid of looking silly and not afraid of writing a check (see Facebook later today)…but I do have a fear of conformity. That\u2019s just me…it kept me out of handcuffs growing up, kept me from vicious vices, kept me from succumbing to emotional things. Again, that\u2019s me…I\u2019m not saying it has to be you.<\/p>\n

After so many years driving in and around them…I\u2019d like to welcome the Glendora Tartans into MVS coverage. If I get a chance in the future I\u2019ll share about my emotional decision to sneak my way into a sold out CIF game at Cal Poly to see Tracy Murray play.<\/p>\n

DC Greg Vaniman returns eight starters on defense… So he’s feeling good.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis league has improved so much in the last five years,\u201d said Bellflower OC Derek Bedell about the Suburban. \u201cFor so long it was Mayfair and La Mirada, now it\u2019s like a dog fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

One team Bedell mentioned that always seems to have the Buccaneers number, is the the same team that often bubbles up in our conversations with others: Artesia.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe Veach has done a great job there,\u201d said Bedell.<\/p>\n

So there is a lot of talk about who might be the best returning quarterback in the Mid-Valley Division. A lot of argued for Elijah Peters at Gabrielino, Steven Nava,…Some might say Edward Dominguez at El Monte, Jamie Michel at South El Monte,…but the name folks might be missing is Zach Chulak out at Viewpoint.<\/p>\n

The Viewpoint Patriots are one of the \u201cother\u201d teams in the Alpha League. Paraclete and Sierra Canyon are looking for new passers, but Chulak, all 6-foot-three of him, returns after throwing 15 touchdowns as a sophomore.<\/p>\n

I saw him play as a freshman…dude, can play. So don\u2019t forget his name.<\/p>\n

Time to start the Terrell Watson for the Heisman campaign. The whole country will get to see him in APU\u2019s nationally (nationally!) televised opener versus Grand Valley on Thursday, September 4th. Watson goes 6\u20191\u201d 232 and runs a 4.5 forty, which adds up to a giant pain in the neck for the rest of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.<\/p>\n

It was fun watching the Northwest Poll…Results will be posted tomorrow…Be sure to get your picks in for the Central Division poll.<\/p>\n

Tyler Hill and Evan Nelson will compete with Bryan Gadsby for the Crescenta Valley quarterback job.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the way Bryan (Gadsby) wants it,\u201d said Falcons HC Paul Schilling. Gadsby just returned to the program after playing baseball this summer.<\/p>\n

In regards to<\/strong>\u00a0Cantwell believers: Promising tackle Kyle Morales left for Charter Oak. I was asked why he was promising and I responded by saying: \u201c6\u20195\u201d tackles are always promising.\u201d<\/p>\n
