Fedor Sent Rogers to the Mat in Round Two <\/p><\/div>\n

Top pound for pound fighter Fedor Emelianenko (31-1) capped off an exciting night of fights with a TKO win over Brett Rogers (10-1), while Jake Shields (24-4-1) was crowned new Strikeforce middleweight champion Saturday night at Strikeforce “Fedor vs. Rogers” in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Rogers came out willing to stand with the hard hitting Fedor. With the first stiff jab of the night Rogers broke Fedor’s nose and it was bloodied through out the fight. Rogers kept his distance until Fedor landed a hard left hook that rocked Rogers. Fedor followed up and Rogers went to the ground however Rogers was powerful enough to slip out of submission attempts from Fedor.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 As Fedor continued to bleed at the second round Rogers stayed on his feet and kept away from Fedor\u2019s takedowns. But Fedor found his range and landed a devastating overhand right that floored Rogers. Fedor began to capitalize but Rogers was done, as the referee stopped the fight at 1:48 of the second round.<\/p>\n

Shields and Miller go the Distance;<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 Former EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields put the pressure on Jason \u201cMayhem\u201d Miller (22-7) through five rounds and won a decision victory for the vacant Strikeforce middleweight title.<\/p>\n

Miller looked to stay on his feet but it didn’t work as Shields took him down at will and attempted submission after submission. But Miller was never in that much danger and locked in a tight rear naked choke late in the third round but time expired. Shields won on the judges score cards 48-47, 49-46 and 49-46.<\/p>\n

Mousasi Finishes Sokoudjou, Werdum Decisions Silva;<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (7-5) gave Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi (27-2-1) all he could handle in the first round. Both fighters kept standing most of the first with each fighter getting a takedown.<\/p>\n

In the second round Mousasi came out looking to finish landing a flurry of punches that dropped Sokoudjou, and continued to pound Sokoudjou on the ground. Sokoudjou wasn’t blocking or answering the strikes and the referee was forced to stop the fight 3:43 of the second.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Silva went at it for three rounds with Wedrum coming out with a 29-28 decision on all three score cards. Silva rocked Werdum in the first round but couldn’t finish him.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 The rest of the fight was all Werdum landing hard punches and getting takedowns while controlling the fight on the ground. Werdum looks to be next in line for a fight with Fedor.<\/p>\n
