(Burbank)— Crescenta Valley’s Jordan Lobianco 56-yard interception return for a touchdown with 8:51 to play halted Burbank’s comeback attempt as the Falcons beat the Bulldogs 24-10 Friday night.<\/p>\n

Tough to think of a CV game in recent memory where the offense didn’t shine, but outside of running back Jonathan Jun the Falcons struggled to consistently move the ball. Quarterback Bryan Gadsby was limited by the Bulldogs defense to a mortal 12 of 25 for 173 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception.<\/p>\n

“You gotta give credit to the Burbank defense,” said Crescenta Valley HC Paul Schilling. “They’ve had a lot of injuries over there and they played well.”<\/p>\n

So did the Falcons defense as CV built a 17-7 halftime lead. Jun scored on a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs and Alex Atanackovic added 26-yard field goal.<\/p>\n

In the second half CV had three possessions end without points inside the Burbank 20. A pair of missed field goals and a series drops by its receivers caused a turnover on downs that allowed the Bulldogs to remain in the game.<\/p>\n

Burbank kicker #9 hit a 32-yard field goal with 1:42 remaining in the third to close the gap to 17-10. Following another CV drive going belly up, the Bulldogs went on the march early in the fourth quarter looking to tie things up.<\/p>\n

Starting at the twelve Bank quarterback Ryan Meredith began to move his team. A 24-yard sideline completion to Nick Catong was followed two plays later by a 16-yard pass to Forrest Fajardo. Running back Jake Kelly picked up 5-yards through the middle. Then on second and five from the Falcons 47 Meredith led Fajardo on an “in” route and Lobianco blew the comeback up.<\/p>\n

***The Crescenta Valley defense added five sacks (two by Colin Caver), three interceptions, and ten tackles by Sean Bloks.<\/p>\n

***Burbank in the second half was playing with ten sophomores on offense and defense.<\/p>\n

***The Falcons Jonathan Jun carried the ball 33 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n

***The Bulldogs lone touchdown came with 5:06 to play in the first half when Meredith connected with Dorian Householder on 27 yard touchdown pass. Householder made the grab and then dove across the goal line.<\/p>\n

***Crescenta Valley started on the offensive line: LT: Davo Hakobyan, LG: Ben Lizer, C: Nizar Abou-chakra, RG: Ryan Cancelosi, RT: Bryan Wong.<\/p>\n

***Burbank’s offensive line suffering from injuries started\/played several players whose numbers do not appear on its varsity roster.<\/p>\n

***”I got you, love you man!”—CV linebacker Kevin Choi walking away after teammate Abou-chakra hurled on the field of play.<\/p>\n

***The Bulldogs before the game found out linebacker Andy Reyes was lost for the season. Fellow linebacker Jha’rod Horhn was on crutches. Standout out running back James Williams was on the sideline with a knee brace.<\/p>\n

***Bryan Gadsby’s string of 14 consecutive games with a touchdown pass, dating back to 2012, was snapped.<\/p>\n

***CV (5-0) plays at Glendale next week. Burbank (3-2) goes to Muir.<\/p>\n
