Austin Daugherty made his presence felt with two field goals.

“It was a complete game,” said South Hills Head Coach Steve Bogan. “I think we played well in specials, defense, and offense. We were able to control the clock and played well in all three areas.”

The first play set the tone for the night as CV fumbled the opening kick and South Hills recovered.

Failing to convert a field goal on their first drive, the Huskies got on the board in their next. Quarterback Jacob Shirley found a wide open Dakota Behr for a 43-yard touchdown.

The Falcons responded through Pessy who broke several tackles and tied the game 7-7 with a 58 yard touchdown run.

Neiko Padilla regained the lead for the Huskies after picking off Falcon quarterback Kyle Cota and returning the ball to the end zone.

CV cut the lead moments later to 13-10 on a Rene Gonzalez field goal.

South Hills took control from then on. Shirley found Vaughns to his left side for a 31 yard touchdown.

In the next drive, Vaughns notched another six points hauling in a 39 yard pass and extending South Hills’ lead to 27-10. The drive followed Cota’s second interception by none other than Vaughns.

“He is a great athlete. He reminds me of Leroy Keyes from Purdue in 1969,” Bogan said of Vaughns. “Leroy played offense and defense, probably the last guy to go both ways in Division I. Geoffrey has a lot of that in him”

Before halftime the Falcons scored when Cota rushed for a 9 yard touchdown.

South Hills added a 33 and a 41 yard field goal in their first two drives of the second half as Daugherty made up for his earlier miss.

“He played a big role in getting us points tonight,” said Bogan. “He came through with some nice pooch kicks which we got possessions on and were able to turn into drives and points”

Pessy ended the scoring by capping a 73 yard drive with 1 yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

By Juan Carlos Salas (Glendale) – Crescenta Valley lost its CIF quarter final home playoff game against South Hills, 33-23 to end it’s season Friday night.

[3
900,1363,581,1039,967,338,1320,865,214
post-4513","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-high-school-sports","tag-austin-daugherty","tag-dakota-behr","tag-geoffrey-vaughns","tag-harry-pessy","tag-jacob-shirley","tag-kyle-cota","tag-leroy-keyes","tag-neiko-padilla","tag-steve-bogan
["GET
