Tey Willams and the Minutemen advance to the CIF Finals.<\/p><\/div>\n

(Cerritos) – Maranatha\u00a0jumped in front from the outset,\u00a0opened up a 20 point lead in the third quarter, before\u00a0eventually settling for a 67-55 win over Valley Christian\u00a0Friday night to advance to the CIF Division 4A Finals.<\/p>\n

Tyler Dorsey led the way as usual for the Minutemen with 22 points\u00a0but it was Tey Williams who provided a spark\u00a0with several key\u00a0steals on defense and 13 points on the offensive end. Williams came alive in the second quarter\u00a0with seven points as the Minutemen opened up a 39-28 lead at the break.\u00a0He also had a big steal and a bucket in the fourth to seal\u00a0the deal.<\/p>\n

Trevor Stanback threw a dunk\u00a0for the first basket of the game and Dorsey\u00a0hit a pair of threes and had nine\u00a0points in the first quarter\u00a0to pace the Minutemen to a 22-14 first quarter lead.\u00a0Williams\u00a0buried a three and tossed in a pair of baskets\u00a0in the second\u00a0and Maranatha extended the lead by three.<\/p>\n

Valley tried to\u00a0stay\u00a0in the hunt behind\u00a0Stedmon Bryant who had\u00a0seven second quarter points and 11 at the half.\u00a0Up by 11, the Minutemen scored the first five points of the third quarter.\u00a0Williams drove the lane for two\u00a0and Sean Romero splashed one from behind the arc\u00a0and just like that\u00a0Natha was up by 16.<\/p>\n

The Crusaders got one final look at the game in the fourth with a 7-2 run to start the quarter and cut the lead to ten.\u00a0But that was as close as Valley would get. Williams had a basket off of a turnover and Zach Smalley\u00a0nailed a huge three to keep the Crusaders at bay.<\/p>\n

Romero was also in double digits for Maranatha with 11,\u00a0Smalley had seven,\u00a0Stanback scored six, all in the first half, and Odera Nwobi had a dunk and four points.<\/p>\n

Ronald\u00a0Massey and Bryant were both in doubles for Valley Christian with 13 and 11 respectively.\u00a0Kyle Westra and Jordan Mitchell each added\u00a0nine.<\/p>\n

Next up a for Maranatha is a\u00a0shot at the CIF\u00a04A Division title. The Minutemen will face Campbell\u00a0Hall, a 69-51 winner of Buckley.<\/p>\n
