(Carson) –\u00a0All of the scoring took place in the first 11 minutes.\u00a0Robbie Keane scored for LA on a\u00a0break away in the 3rd minute and\u00a0Nathan Sturgis responded for Houston eight minutes later, but that was all she wrote as\u00a0the Galaxy battled to a 1-1 tie with the Dynamo Saturday night before 19, 087 at the StubHub Center.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Galaxy had plenty of shots\u00a0at Houston but\u00a0Dynamo goalkeeper\u00a0Tyler Deric kept making saves and keeping LA at bay.<\/p>\n

“We weren’t real sharp tonight. That’s\u00a0a game we should have won going away. We lost too many battles,”\u00a0said Galaxy coach Bruce Arena.\u00a0“But give Houston credit they played well. I thought their goalkeeper did a good job.”<\/p>\n

Alan Gordon came close but couldn’t provide the late match magic.<\/p><\/div>\n

Keane had a golden opportunity in the 48th minute when he received a pass from Stefan Ishizaki on\u00a0a platter but fired it\u00a0high over the net.<\/p>\n

In the 71st minute Miko Vayrynen, who came off the bench, rifled a shot from distance\u00a0but\u00a0Deric made the grab in front of the net. The Galaxy kept applying pressure in the\u00a0second half. Keane got off a\u00a0blast in the 80th\u00a0minute but Deric came up big again.<\/p>\n

Keane\u00a0got things\u00a0started early for the Galaxy when he took control after a Houston possession\u00a0and went the distance. Deric came out to stop him\u00a0but Keane let it fly. The ball deflected off of\u00a0Deric and rolled into the net.<\/p>\n

The momentum was taken away however on Sturgis’ goal in the 11th minute.\u00a0David Horst\u00a0found Sturgis alone in front of the net\u00a0and\u00a0he punched it in to tie it at one.<\/p>\n

“Robbie Rogers lost his man on that corner kick and it turned into a goal,”\u00a0Arena said. “When you score early and the other team scores ten minutes later (eight)\u00a0it takes away what we’ve done.”<\/p>\n

Alan Gordon tried to\u00a0get one by Deric late in the contest but was again thwarted.<\/p>\n

Four additional minutes were added but the Galaxy still couldn’t come up with the game winner.<\/p>\n

Jaime Pinedo was in goal and other than the early score\u00a0he was solid in the nets for the Galaxy.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t like a whole lot tonight. We weren’t very good,” Arena added.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy had 10 shots on goal overall compared to six for the Dynamo.\u00a0Houston had five corners to 4 for LA.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy (1-0-2) will travel to\u00a0D.C\u00a0 United next Saturday while the Dynamo (1-1-1) are home against Colorado.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
