{"id":4781,"date":"2009-12-12T03:06:20","date_gmt":"2009-12-12T10:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=4781"},"modified":"2009-12-13T21:37:15","modified_gmt":"2009-12-14T04:37:15","slug":"back-to-back-southeast-division-titles-for-chargers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=4781","title":{"rendered":"Back-to-Back Southeast Titles for Chargers"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_4785\" style=\"width: 387px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4785\" class=\"size-large wp-image-4785 \" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/muema-628x768.jpg\" alt=\"Charter Oak's Adam Muema capped a brilliant prep career with two touchdowns and a second CIF ring.\" width=\"377\" height=\"461\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-4785\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Charter Oak&#39;s Adam Muema capped a brilliant prep career with two touchdowns and a second CIF ring.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>(Chino Hills) \u2013 Although it wasn\u2019t pretty, Charter Oak won back-to-back Southeast Division Championships by defeating Diamond Ranch, 21-0 Friday night at Ayala High School.<\/p>\n<p>For the fifth time this season, the Chargers\u00a0shut out a Miramonte League team.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t expect it,\u201d said Chargers Coach Lou Farrar.\u00a0 \u201cThey didn\u2019t give this group of kids credit for being this good.\u00a0 Nobody has ever done back-to-back titles at Charter Oak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Chargers relied heavily on a defense that sacked Panther quarterback Gus Viramontes six times and only allowed 32 yards of offense in the second half to continue their dominance over Miramonte League teams.\u00a0\u00a0 The Panthers gained only\u00a0123 yards of total offense for the game.<\/p>\n<p>Charter Oak running back Adam Muema rushed for 173 yards on 30 carries and scored twice to lead the offense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe (Muema) is a monster,\u201d said Farrar.\u00a0 \u201cHow would you like having 10 guys chasing and trying to tackle you? \u00a0Everyone in the stadium knew he was going to get the ball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After a shaky beginning, it was a 55-yard field goal attempt that fell short by Diamond Ranch that turned the momentum onto the Chargers side as A.J. Powell returned the attempt 35-yards to the Charter Oak 40-yard line.<\/p>\n<p>A heavy dose of Muema was all Charter Oak needed on the drive as he punched it in from a yard out to open\u00a0the scoring.\u00a0 Two key pass interference penalties helped extend the 15-play scoring driving for the Chargers.<\/p>\n<p>Diamond Ranch\u00a0never threatened after the field goal attempt and was stymied through-out the remainder of the game.\u00a0 The Panthers got\u00a0as close as the 33-yard line late in the first half, only to have a holding call and a sack by Maurice Clement push them out of field goal range.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4855\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4855\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4855\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/MG_1052-400x266.jpg\" alt=\"Adam Muema was dragging defenders in the second half.
