Cannon Plooster boots home the game winner for the East squad in the 605 All-Star game.<\/p><\/div>\n

(Norwalk) – Cannon Plooster booted a 37-yard field goal\u00a0with\u00a02:50 left in the fourth quarter to\u00a0give the East a 10-7 win over the West in the 605 All-Star Game at Cerritos College Friday night.<\/p>\n

The West had two chances to get even but\u00a0Chase Keough\u00a0fumbled in the first possession after Plooster’s kick and his last pass sailed out of the end zone with no time remaining\u00a0and the East Celebration began.\u00a0The West turned the ball over three times, two of them\u00a0were first half \u00a0interceptions by Jaydon Logan\u00a0(Artesia) who took home MVP honors for his efforts.<\/p>\n

A little more Lavell Thompson was needed by the West side!<\/p><\/div>\n

Both offenses struggled throughout the contest.\u00a0Logan intercepted Michael LoVett\u00a0III on the West’s third possession of the game. Later\u00a0in the half he picked off El Rancho QB Andrew Perea.\u00a0The West’s only score\u00a0came on a big play\u00a0when Keough connected with Lynwood’s Dante Spotville, who got behind the East secondary, for\u00a0a 71-yard touchdown to tie the score at seven with 4:42 left in the first quarter.<\/p>\n

The West had a shot to take the lead\u00a0late in the fourth when they moved the ball down to the East six- yard line. But unfortunately\u00a0for West HC\u00a0Jack Williams, their starting kicker didn’t show up.\u00a0Richard Cuellar (El Rancho) was pressed into action and missed a 23 yard field goal.<\/p>\n

The East immediately answered\u00a0by moving down to the\u00a0West 20 to set up Plooster.\u00a0The 37-yarder\u00a0was merely a chip shot for the Mayfair kicker\u00a0who has arguably\u00a0the best leg in the valley.<\/p>\n

The East scored first with 5:37 left in the first quarter when Gavin Pruett\u00a0(Capistrano Valley) hit Kyle Harlin (Villa Park) for a 21 yard score. The East\u00a0had one\u00a0turnover- an interception thrown\u00a0by Enrique Pacheco.<\/p>\n

Pacheco from La Serna\u00a0and La Mirada’s Christian Lara, who\u00a0\u00a0also played quarterback for the East,\u00a0had\u00a0trouble establishing\u00a0a rhythm.\u00a0The passing game\u00a0wasn’t much of a factor for the West either. Lavell Thompson had some big runs, especially late in the game, and finished\u00a0with 71 yards on seven carries.<\/p>\n

This was the second 605 win in three years for East\/Buena Park\u00a0Head\u00a0Coach Anthony White.<\/p>\n
