(Anaheim) –\u00a0Arizona jumped out to a 35-12 first half lead\u00a0and then had to hold on in an eventual 49-43 win over the LA KISS Saturday night at Honda Center.<\/p>\n

Nick Davila threw for six touchdowns and\u00a0282 yards for the Rattlers who improved to 11-2 on the season.\u00a0Rod Windsor and Kerry Reed each caught\u00a0a pair of touchdown passes. Danny Southwick threw for five TDs, four of them to Donovan “Captain” Morgan, and\u00a0311 yards for the KISS.\u00a0Southwick was knocked out of the game in the fourth quarter with a concussion and\u00a0had to be replaced by Joe Clancy.<\/p>\n

Nick Davila’s three-yard touchdown pass to Rod Windsor got the Rattlers on the board first. The KISS was stopped and\u00a0Davila struck again\u00a0hitting Kerry Reed for a two touchdown lead..<\/p>\n

Southwick connected with\u00a0Morgan\u00a0for eight yards to get the KISS on the board. The extra point was blocked.<\/p>\n

Former KISS player AJ Cruz hauled in a 12-yard touchdown pass from Davila and after Mykel Benson scooted in from a yard out Arizona was coasting 28-6.\u00a0Morgan caught his second of the night, a 48-yard pass from Southwick but the KISS was still down\u00a035-18 at the break.<\/p>\n

Former USC Trojan Andre Heidari booted a 21-yard field goal for the KISS to open the second half to cut the lead to 35-21\u00a0but Arizona answered\u00a0with a 10-yard TD pass from Davila to Windsor.<\/p>\n

After Southwick hit Morgan again on a 43-yard TD laser strike on the next possession to get the KISS within\u00a0two scores, Cruz smacked the KISS again on\u00a0the ensuing kickoff\u00a0as he returned it\u00a058 yards for a score\u00a0for a 49-28 advantage at the end of the third quarter.<\/p>\n

LA made it interesting in the fourth quarter\u00a0when the KISS forced a fumble. Southwick\u00a0was then hit and in came Clancy\u00a0who hooked\u00a0up with\u00a0who else? Morgan.\u00a0After a botched snap Clancy ran it in\u00a0for a two point conversion and suddenly the\u00a0KISS was down\u00a049-43 with 2:41 left.<\/p>\n

Arizona however\u00a0was able to make a couple of first downs, one the courtesy of a\u00a0personal foul\u00a0on KISS DB\u00a0Josh Victorian, and chewed up the rest of the clock.<\/p>\n

KISS head coach Bob McMillen was upset with the officiating and several late hits by\u00a0Arizona.<\/p>\n

“After four or five\u00a0hits like that he’s going to go down,” McMillen said\u00a0“How many late\u00a0hits for roughing the passer did they receive?\u00a0I’m upset\u00a0because\u00a0I’m trying to protect my players.”<\/p>\n

When asked\u00a0whether there should have been some ejections McMillen responded “The league will have to\u00a0review it and make a decision. I’m not going to get into all of that.”<\/p>\n

“We can play\u00a0with anybody. I feel we are better than them,” Morgan said. “But we need to play without stupidity.”<\/p>\n

The KISS fell to 2-11 on the year. They will have a bye next week before returning home\u00a0July 12 to face Spokane.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
