Right off the Top:<\/strong> I lost track of the fact that July 1st is Bobby Bonilla Day…The former stiff actually collects a $1.2-million check from the New York Mets, from a deferred buyout in 1999, through 2035.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t slam Dodgers second baseman Howie Kendrick because I haven\u2019t seen him play since spring training…I can say, however, Dee Gordon looks pretty good in Miami. The Marlins aren\u2019t good, but they do know how to beat the Giants.<\/p>\n

Last Add El Monte Quarterback Edward Dominguez: The testimony is, stay put. If you have talent, if you have the physical dimensions schools are looking for, they will find you.<\/p>\n

On the other hand if you\u2019re stuck at a school that has had five head coaches in five years…Then get the heck out of Dodge.<\/p>\n

The Traveling Man: Kurt Scoby is now at Dixie State…Wow. We annually cover APU\u2019s game in St. George, Utah. I hope he gets on the field. The Red Storm plays good football…and the stadium is only a couple of miles from Cracker Barrel.<\/p>\n

Game to keep an eye on, or at least should be a lot of fun, is Maranatha going to San Dimas on Friday, September 4th. Every time I\u2019ve tried to see the Saints this summer and spring I\u2019ve been derailed but don\u2019t let my silence fool you…Others have told me that, while Northview is the favorite in the Valle Vista, the party isn\u2019t over in San Dimas. I agree.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a possibility…just a possibility…given its preseason schedule South Pasadena, yes, I said the Tigers, could be (could be) undefeated when they start league play on October 9th against La Canada…Truth is, they can probably beat the Spartans and be 6-0.<\/p>\n

Speaking of Running Backs: The best player at Temple City, for new HC March Shettleroe, is running back Anthony Degravina.<\/p>\n

Word out of Sierra Canyon is that quarterback Niko Harris is a 100 percent and looking great. Harris, a junior, had the fast start to his sophomore season derailed by a knee injury. The Trailblazers will continue to be Mid-Valley contenders.<\/p>\n

I take heat every year by honking for Mayfair\u2019s Isaiah Jackson, but I don\u2019t care. I\u2019m also going to honk for another under the radar quarterback who probably won\u2019t see post-season this year…Walnut\u2019s Micah Maes…<\/p>\n

CIF ought to allow mid-season trades for seniors. I always advocate for this (and I always get the sanctimonious; \u2018Joe, life is more than football, these are just kids…\u2019 yada, yada)…Think about it. Walnut could very well be improved this year, but are they going to find any traction in the Hacienda League? They\u2019ve got Chino, Diamond Ranch, Los Altos, West Covina, and Charter Oak in front of them. Not even a SCOTUS interpretation of the 14th Amendment could rescue them from that.<\/p>\n

But perhaps if a senior quarterback could be dealt to a contender, with his consent, then you might have something really interesting going on in mid-October when fates become sealed and opportunity arises.<\/p>\n

In regards to<\/strong> politics: \u201cFolks, it’s simply time to concede the point…today’s conservative movement is Cumberland College, Obama is Georgia Tech.\u201d—Dennis Miller<\/p>\n

In regards to<\/strong> boxing: \u201cWhy is it we\u2019ll watch a boxing movie, but we won\u2019t watch boxing?\u201d—Dan Patrick<\/p>\n
