(Carson) – Giovani Dos Santos had a goal and an assist in his MLS debut and the Galaxy\u00a0broke a tie with two second half goals to beat the Seattle\u00a0Sounders 3-1 Sunday before a sold out crowd of 27,000 at StubHub Center.<\/p>\n

The game was tied at one at the half\u00a0 but Robbie Keane quickly untied it\u00a0in the 47th minute when he scored in front of the net off assists\u00a0from Dos Santos and AJ Delagarza. Dos Santos got his in the 64th minute as he beat his defender and fired one by Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei for a 3-1 lead.\u00a0The advantage\u00a0held up the rest of the way.<\/p>\n

“I feel very happy. We gave up a goal early but we came back and I’m very happy with the victory,” Dos Santos said.<\/p>\n

The early goal that Dos Santos was referring to came in the first minute of the match. Chad Barrett\u00a0put Seattle up 1-0 just 51 seconds into the game stunning the fans and the Galaxy into temporary silence. But LA quickly recovered as\u00a0Gyasi Zardes tied it 12 minutes later when he\u00a0 received a pass in front of the net from Juninho\u00a0and slid it into the\u00a0right corner.<\/p>\n

Sebastian\u00a0Lletget won the corner play and then found Juninho\u00a0who served it up to Zardes on a platter.<\/p>\n

Galaxy goalkeeper Orlando Ricketts kept it tied with a great save\u00a0off of a Seattle blast\u00a0in the 25th minute. Keane\u00a0had a run on the right side in the 28th minute but it was\u00a0broken up by a Seattle defenseman.<\/p>\n

Seattle’s\u00a0Erik Friberg picked up a\u00a0yellow card for taking down\u00a0Dos Santos in the 38th minute. But Steven Gerrard’s free kick sailed wide right. Two minutes of additional time were\u00a0added in first half but it remained tied.<\/p>\n

After Keane’s goal Gerrard was denied as he had an opportunity on the right side but was turned away\u00a0by Frei.<\/p>\n

Ricketts made a another\u00a0nice save off of a blast after a Seattle player got by\u00a0Rogers in front of Ricketts.<\/p>\n

After Dos Santos gave LA a two goal lead he was\u00a0replaced by Gordon in the 69th minute.<\/p>\n

Rogers made up for the miscue by clearing the ball off the line in\u00a0the 70th minute just before it rolled into the net.<\/p>\n

Gordon\u00a0hits the post from the right side\u00a0off a nice feed from Sebastian Lletget\u00a0in the 71st minute as both sides were\u00a0attacking.<\/p>\n

Gordon\u00a0had another shot with a\u00a0bicycle kick\u00a0in the 80th minute that sailed high over the net.\u00a0Two minutes of additional time were added before the\u00a0Galaxy went on to win.<\/p>\n

“I give credit to both sides.\u00a0We shouldn’t be playing at 1:00 in the afternoon in the summer months. It was very challenging,” said Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena.\u00a0“But we battled back well after giving up a goal early.”<\/p>\n

Dos Santos likes the possibilities for the Galaxy. “I can see great possibilities for this team. Hopefully we can get a title,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy improved to 10-7-7 with the win while the Sounders dropped to 10-12-2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
