Jarell Sykes took a hand off and went 67 yards for a touchdown on the second play of scrimmage to give the Saints a 7-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>On their second drive they marched 78 yards on 11 plays with Dominic Cortez going in from two yards out. Joey Tamayo hit Edward Siapno for a 25-yard strike down to the Colt 19-yard line to set up the score.<\/p>\n<p>Down 21-0 late in the second half, Covina committed a costly turnover. Andrew Apodaca was hit and the ball popped loose setting up the Saints at the Colt 36. Four plays later, Cortez scored again- this time on five yard pass from Tamayo to make it 28-0. There was still a half to play but when Cortez danced into the end zone it was game-set match.<\/p>\n<p>San Dimas&#8217; defense stonewalled Covina all night forcing the Colts into four punts and two turnovers in nine possessions.<\/p>\n<p>*** Sykes had 19 carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>*** Tamayo completed 9 of 9 passes for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>*** Ryan Berry caught Tamayo&#8217;s first touchdown pass \u2013 a ten-yard toss early in the second for a 21-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>*** Sykes seven-yard touchdown run with 1:33 left in the third quarter made it 35-0.<\/p>\n<p>*** San Dimas rushed for 224 yards overall.<\/p>\n<p>*** Covina advanced into San Dimas territory just twice all night and both times the Colts were stopped on fourth down.<\/p>\n<p>*** San Dimas improved to 6-3 and 3-1 in the Valle Vista. Covina is also 3-1 in league and 6-3 overall.<\/p>\n<p>*** David Barragan was the leading rusher for the Colts with 45 yards.<\/p>\n<p>*** San Dimas didn&#8217;t turn the ball over compared to two turnovers for the Colts.<\/p>\n<p>*** \u201cWe&#8217;re a good football team. It just took us a little while to get started.
