(Photo by Duane Barker)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Monrovia) The Monrovia Wildcats and the Grand Terrace Titans battled Friday night in the first round of the 2015 Central Division playoffs. The game included a lot of yellow laundry and a stoppage in play when the lights went out but the Wildcats weathered the interruptions and came out on top 27-17.<!--more--><br \/>\nThe teams played to a 0-0 draw in the first quarter and the Titans broke through first with 11:23 to play in the second period on a one yard run by Donovan Ferguson.<br \/>\nThe Wildcats answered the salvo by Grand Terrace with a score of their own marching 65 yards on 4 plays with Aubrey Mosely hauling in a 45 yard pass from Asaph Zamora.<br \/>\nFive minutes later Monrovia lit the scoreboard again on another Zamora to Mosley connection.<br \/>\nThe Titans cut the lead to three late in the first half on a 23 yard field goal by Mark Negrete.<br \/>\nComing out of the locker rooms Grand Terrace went on a 75 yard drive for a score to take the lead back 17-14. Ferguson got the call again this time from seven yards away.<br \/>\nDown three, the Wildcats recovered a Myles Herrera fumble at the Monrovia five. Two plays later Lawrence Spicer got loose on a 84 yard bolt to paydirt. Gabriel Dunkle added the extra point and the Wildcats took back the lead 21 -17. It was a lead the wouldn&#8217;t relinquish the rest of the night.<br \/>\nMonrovia put the final nail the in the coffin of Grand Terrace&#8217;s season with 1:15 left in the third quarter. Spicer caught a Zamora screen pass in traffic and got loose up for a 20 yard score.<br \/>\n*** Spicer led all rushers with 147 yards on 24 carries with a touchdown rushing and one receiving.<br \/>\n*** Devon Dixon led the Titans on the ground with 118 yards.<br \/>\n*** The leading receiver for the Wildcat&#8217;s was Jermaine Bias with seven catches for 144 yards.<br \/>\n*** Dixon was also the leading receiver for Grand Terrace with four catches for 51 yards.<br \/>\n*** Aubrey Mosley had a sold night with four catches for 81 yards but two of the catches were for touchdowns.<br \/>\n*** Ferguson had 93 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns.<br \/>\n*** Zamora connected on 15 of 26 passes for 262 yards and three scores.<br \/>\n*** It was a long night for Herrera who completed only eight of 21 passes for 85 yards with an interception.<br \/>\n*** With a little more than four minutes left in the third quarter, the stadium lights went out and left the field in darkness.
