Sei-j Lauago and the Matadors are headed to the State Final<\/p><\/div>\n

(La Mirada) –\u00a0Sei-j Lauago\u00a0scored twice and\u00a0Elijah Hicks had\u00a0 huge block of a punt in the end zone as La Mirada rolled to a 36-14 win over\u00a0Oceanside\u00a0in the Division III-AA State Bowl Friday night.<\/p>\n

Tristan Meyer hit\u00a0Lauago for a 12-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter\u00a0as the\u00a0Matadores struck first to go up 7-0.\u00a0After Oceanside fumbled the kick off\u00a0La Mirada\u00a0cashed in with a 39-yard\u00a0Francisco Sanchez field goal for a 10-0 lead.<\/p>\n

It was 17-0 when Hicks came up big defensively\u00a0with blocked punt and there was still\u00a0over two minutes left in the first quarter.<\/p>\n

Oceanside got on the scoreboard with a minute left in the first\u00a0on a 27-yard touchdown\u00a0run.<\/p>\n

The Matadores\u00a0added another Sanchez field goal\u00a0in the second quarter\u00a0and picked up a safety just before the half ended.<\/p>\n

La Mirada’s D continued the dominating performance\u00a0in the third quarter as Shaun Swain picked off a pass and returned it to the one -yard line.\u00a0From there Mario Hernandez\u00a0bulled his way in to make it\u00a029-7 and\u00a0effectively ice the game.<\/p>\n

Lauago\u00a0tacked on one more touchdown\u00a0late in the fourth quarter\u00a0with a five-yard run for the 36-14 final.<\/p>\n

The Matadores, who improved to 12-3,\u00a0continue their dream season next Saturday when they host Campolindo in the 3AA\u00a0State Final\u00a0at a site to be determined.<\/p>\n
