I remember a couple of years ago when the Buster Posey Rule was brought in\u2026I complained in my column, I complained on \u201cThe Joe Show\u201d, I complained on Facebook\u2026I said, \u201cWhat happens to plays at second base and the in the neighborhood calls that have been part of the game forever?\u201d<\/p>\n

I said they were going to start reviewing plays at second and that it was a bad decision.<\/p>\n

I was told by the Alphas of baseball fandom that I was wrong. It would never happen. I was told, essentially, that I was bloodthirsty because I thought the Posey Rule was bad and that it wouldn\u2019t lead to other things.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not looking for a Nostradamus laurel to lay upon my head\u2026but the door was open, the slippery slope has slid, and now there is no going back.<\/p>\n

Until it happens to the Mets\u2026I don\u2019t care. But know this\u2026Within a decade the MLB Umpire will be as rare as the old radio disc jockey. Balls & Strikes\u2026Balls & Strikes\u2026Balls & Strikes\u2026determined by a sensor\u2026because everything has to be safe and fair.<\/p>\n

So the night before my fantasy draft I consulted \u201cThoseBenchWarmers\u201d \u2026(MLB service & info provided by “Temple City\u2019s 3 Tenors: Riley Saxon, Derek Cheng, and that Other Guy.” Follow them @warming_benches<\/strong>)\u2026And they recommended Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story.<\/p>\n

We saw Story in Cactus League play and he looked great\u2026Then again so did Daniel Nava. I didn\u2019t draft him\u2026and now you know\u2026The Rest of The Story (six home runs in the seasons first five days).<\/p>\n

For a while when it was raining in San Francisco\u2026I was laughing at the possible irony of a Dodgers national telecast not being blacked out but postponed because of rain.<\/p>\n

Midbits:<\/strong> I have three blue embers still burning: Vin Scully, Dodger Stadium, and Clayton Kershaw\u2026Great pitcher, better person, he is so easy to root for. Always want to see Kershaw do well.<\/p>\n
