(Carson) – The Galaxy\u00a0overcame an early one goal deficit\u00a0to score four consecutive times in the first half and went on to beat Real Salt Lake 5-2 Saturday night before a sold out StubHub\u00a0Center crowd of\u00a025,867.<\/p>\n

Five different players scored for the Galaxy\u00a0as they knocked off previously unbeaten Salt Lake.<\/p>\n

“I think in a couple of months we’re going to be a real good team,” said Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena. “I think we have a good team with some good balance, with some young players\u00a0and some real experienced players.”<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Galaxy\u00a0could have had even more. They\u00a0had a couple of golden opportunities early. Steven Gerrard had a penalty kick in the\u00a0sixth minute after Giovani dos Santos\u00a0was\u00a0knocked down,\u00a0but his shot was\u00a0stopped on the left side by Nick\u00a0Rimando. Dos Santos then\u00a0hit the post in the 16th minute on a drive.<\/p>\n

Real Salt Lake\u00a0got\u00a0on the board first when\u00a0Juan Manuel\u00a0Martinez\u00a0scored on a header\u00a0that eluded Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe\u00a0and found\u00a0the back of the net in the 16th minute.\u00a0Four minutes later Gyasi Zardes\u00a0did it\u00a0all himself\u00a0working his way past three\u00a0Salt Lake defenders and firing it in from 20 feet out to get the Galaxy even.<\/p>\n

In the 26th minute Mike Magee\u00a0picked up a perfect pass from Emmanuel\u00a0Boateng and sent it in.\u00a0The pass was so good by Boateng that the Galaxy PA announcer\u00a0initially gave him credit for the goal before correcting it.<\/p>\n

Boateng actually got his for real\u00a0in the 41st minute when he picked\u00a0up a pass that missed\u00a0Zardes,\u00a0in front of the net but found Boateng and he booted\u00a0it into the net.<\/p>\n

In the\u00a045th minute\u00a0dos Santos lofted a well placed chip\u00a0over the head of Rimando\u00a0after a great play by Boateng\u00a0got the\u00a0ball back to dos Santos.<\/p>\n

LA\u00a0went into the half up\u00a04-1.<\/p>\n

Baggio Husidic\u00a0got off a\u00a0shot\u00a0on goal in the 59th minute but Rimando made\u00a0the save.<\/p>\n

Jelle Van Damme was\u00a0called for a yellow card\u00a0as he knocked\u00a0down Javier Morales although it appeared he got all ball. Galaxy HC Bruce Arena\u00a0was\u00a0livid on the sidelines as Morales blasted in\u00a0the penalty\u00a0kick in the 70th minute to cut the LA lead to 4-2.<\/p>\n

Ashley Cole fired\u00a0on goal but it was\u00a0stopped by Rimando late in the contest.<\/p>\n

Gerrard\u00a0added a little gravy as he made\u00a0a nifty move to leave a defender in his wake\u00a0and punched one by Rimando in the 90th minute for the fifth and final Galaxy goal of the night.<\/p>\n

With the victory, the Galaxy improved to\u00a04-1-2 while Real Salt Lake fell to the same record with the loss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
