Daniel Campos has committed to Mount Union – a Division 3 Power<\/p><\/div>\n

(Whittier) –\u00a0Daniel\u00a0Campos has committed to the University of Mount\u00a0Union\u00a0to continue his football career the La Serna linebacker confirmed Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I had a few other offers\u00a0but\u00a0nothing as\u00a0good as Mount Union.\u00a0They started contacting me\u00a0a couple of months ago and then\u00a0I took a trip out there and they showed me around the campus,” Campos said.\u00a0“It was just a great campus and facilities.\u00a0They gave me a couple of days to think about it and I made up my\u00a0mind. I accepted the offer.”<\/p>\n

Financially the\u00a0offer was\u00a0one that ultimately Campos couldn’t turn down.\u00a0“It’s one that you don’t see very often for D3,”\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n

La Serna has been one of the most successful programs\u00a0in the Southeast\u00a0Division over the last several years, appearing\u00a0in four CIF\u00a0Finals in the last five years and winning the title in 2013.\u00a0For Campos,\u00a0he’s going from\u00a0one winning\u00a0program to another.<\/p>\n

“Since my freshman\u00a0year I’ve played in\u00a0three championship games and one semi final,” Campos said.\u00a0“That’s why I’m\u00a0excited about Mount Union.\u00a0They’ve won 12 championships in the last 20 years.”<\/p>\n

Mount Union, a Division 3 school in Alliance, Ohio\u00a0has appeared in 15 championship games during that time. The team known as the\u00a0Purple Raiders, has produced\u00a0NFL players Pierre Garcon and Cecil Shorts.<\/p>\n

Campos, who has been in on close to 300 tackles over the last two years, is\u00a0looking forward to seeing the field his freshman year.<\/p>\n

“They graduated a couple of\u00a0starting linebackers and the coaches were\u00a0telling me that I could play right away,” Campos said.<\/p>\n

The season begins for Mount Union\u00a0Saturday September 10 at North Carolina Wesleyan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
