(Photo by Duane Barker<\/p><\/div>\n<p>By Tim Peterson<\/p>\n<p>(Anaheim) &#8211; The LA KISS lined up for a 51 yard field goal with four seconds remaining and the score tied at 41. The kick could have been a game winner\u00a0for the KISS but instead the game was lost when\u00a0the ball was snapped over the head of the holder and rolled all the way\u00a0until it hit the\u00a0back of the end zone as the clock hit zeroes\u00a0resulting in a safety and a 43-41 Orlando victory Sunday before 6,287 at Honda Center. \u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a very difficult loss to swallow. I feel like we gave the game\u00a0away,&#8221; said KISS head coach Omarr Smith. &#8220;I feel like we lost a game we should have won. It&#8217;s very disheartening.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0KISS led 21-14 at half time\u00a0and exchanged touchdowns with Orlando until the end.\u00a0Both teams missed extra points in the fourth quarter leading to the 41-41 tie and the game ending safety.<\/p>\n<p>The KISS\u00a0\u00a0scored first on a\u00a0Pete Thomas six-yard touchdown pass to Donovan &#8220;Captain&#8221; Morgan.\u00a0Then the defense stopped the Predators on the one-yard line.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan hauled\u00a0in his second of the night from Thomas\u00a0&#8211; this one from\u00a0seven\u00a0yards out for a 14-0\u00a0KISS lead. Orlando countered with a 13-yard\u00a0TD strike from\u00a0Bernard Morris to Greg Carr to cut the lead in half.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas was\u00a0then intercepted on the next possession\u00a0by Varmah Sonie to set\u00a0up Orlando on the\u00a0KISS 21. Morris\u00a0capped\u00a0the drive with a three yard keeper to tie it at 14.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas connected with Morgan\u00a0for the third time\u00a0on a seven-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds left in the first half to put LA up 21-14.<\/p>\n<p>Orlando\u00a0opened the third quarter with\u00a0drive that consumed nearly\u00a0nine minutes and culminated with a four-yard touchdown strike from Morris to\u00a0Brandon Thompkins\u00a0to tie it.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan caught\u00a0his\u00a0fourth touchdown of the night on a four-yard pass from Thomas as the KISS\u00a0grabbed\u00a0the lead\u00a0again.<\/p>\n<p>Thompkins immediately got the\u00a0Preds even returning the kickoff 56 yards for a\u00a0score.<\/p>\n<p>On the next series Rory Nixon took\u00a0a toss from Thomas and rumbled\u00a016 yards into the end zone with just over eight minutes left to put the KISS back on top.<\/p>\n<p>Thompkins again burned\u00a0the KISS returning the ensuing kickoff 55\u00a0yards for\u00a0a touchdown to square it at 35.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas found\u00a0Brandon Collins, who broke by the defensive back and then waltzed into the endzone for the KISS lead.\u00a0But the extra point was\u00a0missed with 2:26 left.<\/p>\n<p>The Predators marched down and scored\u00a0with ten seconds left on a\u00a0two-yard\u00a0run by Morris but the extra point was also botched as it sailed wide\u00a0and the score was\u00a0tied at 41.<\/p>\n<p>Then the field goal attempt proved to be the Kiss of death for LA.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s disappointing,&#8221; Smith added.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas completed\u00a021 of 39 for 237 yards and\u00a0six touchdowns for the KISS.\u00a0He also threw an interception.\u00a0Morgan caught\u00a0eight passes for 81 yards and four scores.<\/p>\n<p>Thompkins was huge for Orlando catching\u00a0eight passes for 82 yards and a score and the two kick off returns for scores.<\/p>\n<p>The KISS fell to 4-5 with the heartbreaking defeat while Orlando improved\u00a0to 8-2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Tim Peterson (Anaheim) &#8211; The LA KISS lined up for a 51 yard field goal with four seconds remaining and the score tied at 41.
