El Monte Lady Lion Sandra Gutierrez recorded the 400th<\/sup> block of her prep career in 30-point victory over Mt. View on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Gutierrez, in her third year as El Monte\u2019s starting center, is expected to end the season in the top ten in California history in blocks. She also has an outside shot of cracking the top five.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat makes her accomplishment more impressive is that those in the top five were four year varsity players and she is only in her third,\u201d said EM HC Brian Tabatabai. \u201cShe currently ranks number three in the country in blocks.\u201d<\/p>\n

While fly-swatting her way into the record book the 6\u20192\u201d senior is averaging 9.6 points per game, 13 rebounds a game, but also leads her team in assists.<\/p>\n
