(Carson) –\u00a0For 90 plus minutes\u00a0both teams\u00a0pushed, shoved, ran and\u00a0kicked their way towards the net. They both had their opportunities but in the end\u00a0neither the Galaxy or the Vancouver Whitecaps could cash in and had to settle for a 0-0 tie Saturday night before a sold out crowd of 25,667\u00a0at StubHub Center.<\/p>\n

Vancouver looked like it would\u00a0go up early when in the eighth minute\u00a0Erik Hurtado\u00a0headed a cross that hit the top of the cross bar above the head of Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Rowe\u00a0and bounced away.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy struggled early to get into scoring position but for the Whitecaps\u00a0Hurtado had another opportunity\u00a0in the 24th minute when a header in front of the box flew\u00a0wide\u00a0right\u00a0of the net.\u00a0For LA Gyasi Zardes replaced Steven Gerrard\u00a0in the 31st minute.<\/p>\n

Sebastian Lletget\u00a0was\u00a0knocked down and the Galaxy was\u00a0awarded\u00a0a free kick in the 38th minute but\u00a0Giovani dos Santos’ boot sailed high.<\/p>\n

In the 44th minute Daniel Steres substituted\u00a0for Jelle Van Damme who came off the pitch\u00a0limping.<\/p>\n

Two minutes of additional time were added for the first half.\u00a0 Emmanuel Boateng got\u00a0off a shot just before the end of the half but it was\u00a0high and wide.<\/p>\n

Vancouver had six total shots compared to four\u00a0for LA in the first half.<\/p>\n

In the second half,\u00a0Robbie Rogers, who was playing for the first time since June,\u00a0had\u00a0a chance in the 50th minute when the ball was\u00a0bouncing around the penalty area\u00a0but Whitecap goalkeeper David Ousted\u00a0caught up to it to end the threat.<\/p>\n

Lletget\u00a0charged right up the gut of the Vancouver\u00a0defense and fired a shot on goal but Ousted made\u00a0the save in the 62nd minute.<\/p>\n

Alan Gordon was in position when he headed\u00a0a nice pass from Ashley Cole right in front but it too went\u00a0high over the net in the 66th minute.<\/p>\n

Gordon again had a chance two minutes later but his\u00a0kick\u00a0was\u00a0off target to the\u00a0left of the net.<\/p>\n

Mike Magee replaced Zardes in the 87th minute.<\/p>\n

Three minutes of additional time were\u00a0added\u00a0but neither team found the\u00a0net as it ended\u00a0in a scoreless tie.<\/p>\n

“It’s not frustrating. It’s a one point game,” said Galaxy Coach Bruce\u00a0Arena alluding\u00a0to the point picked up in the standings with the draw.<\/p>\n

For the Galaxy it was their third game in the last eight days. “The best thing for us is we have a couple of days off.\u00a0It’s important to get the rest and recover.”<\/p>\n

Ties are starting to become a common occurrence for the Galaxy. This was their 13th draw of the season.<\/p>\n

“They (Vancouver) obviously got tired.\u00a0They were chasing the ball a lot. So we had a lot of the ball\u00a0but didn’t have the final product. We came close a couple of times,” Arena said.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy now 9-4-13 will get a week off before facing Columbus next Saturday night at home.\u00a0Vancouver moved to\u00a08-12-7.<\/p>\n
